Join us for A Taste of Spring on Saturday, March 14 from 4–6 PM at the Winter Street Center. Celebrate the season with light bites from our pollinator grazing table, a honey tasting, and interactive stations exploring the connection between meadows, pollinators, and our vision for a meadow in downtown Bath!
We’re also excited to welcome guest speaker and Penobscot Tribal historian James Francis who will be speak about an Indigenous sense of place and the deep connections between land, language, and identity.
This is an all-ages event, with activities and food for kids and adults alike.
A $10 suggested donation supports our work to create a native meadow and community park in downtown Bath.

We’re looking forward to warmer days when we can sit, relax, and enjoy the meadow again!!
Last summer, we were generously donated 22 pine stumps, which we turned into natural seating areas throughout the meadow.
Don’t worry about sticky seats either! These stumps are over 15 years old, so the sap has long since dried. Just bring yourself and stay awhile

Noticed anything new in the meadow?

If you take a stroll as the sun goes down and you just might spot our glowing pollinator lighting up the night!
We recently installed a lighted bee to bring a little warmth and light to the dark winter days 🐝☀️

‼️ We’ve got BIG news and a big deadline ‼️
Thanks to a generous donor, we’ve been offered a $200,000 matching gift to pay off our mortgage and protect this land forever.
This means your donation today will be DOUBLED. But this opportunity is all or nothing, and we must raise the full match by the end of this year. With $70,000 already raised, your support right now could be the gift that secures this land for generations to come.
Donate or pledge through the link in our bio and help be part of something lasting

Winter may be snowy and cold but it’s just what our meadow needs! Many of our native plants such as goldenrods, asters, milkweeds, and blazing stars rely on a period of cold dormancy to thrive each year. These plants provide food to our pollinator friends that sustain them during the warmer seasons. Then in the winter, the dried stems and leaves become essential habitat for bees, caterpillars, and insects that help them survive the colder weather. This cold period is not only a beautiful time of transition for these plants and insects, but also an essential part of their dormancy process that prepares them for spring!

Welcome to the Meadow Conservancy, thanks for checking out our page!

We’re a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Bath, Maine, and we recently purchased the last open waterfront parcel in downtown Bath. Our mission is to transform this land into a native meadow and public space for everyone to enjoy.

Just a short walk from downtown, you can find walking trails, seating areas, river views, and gathering spaces. Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to relax and connect with nature or a community event to attend, this meadow will be a space for all.

By restoring this land as a native meadow, we’re creating vital habitat for pollinators, birds, and beneficial insects while strengthening the ecosystem as a whole. Diverse native plantings help sequester carbon, absorb and filter runoff, and reduce erosion along the waterfront. Meadows are resilient, living systems that protect biodiversity, support our river, and sustain the natural balance our community depends on.

We are working towards our goals everyday, but still need your help! If you’re interested in getting involved, contributing, or sharing ideas, we’d love to connect. Together, we can create a space for generations to come.
