We are updating our food delivery list. If you are interested in delivering food boxes thru February, message our director, Kimberly Gates, [email protected]. We will be reaching out to everyone presently on our list...just to make sure you want to continue. It is hard for so many of our families to get out now that the weather is turning cold. How does it work? A family would call us, let us know what they need and their address. We do ask that they have already filled out the appropriate paperwork. We would build the box of food...reach out to you and give you an address. Keeping you safe IS our concern. We ask that you not enter the home, you must leave the food outside the door. We are not allowed to deliver perishable foods. You would need a reliable vehicle and we would NEVER ask you to drive in bad weather. Generally...deliveries will be Tuesday 12-5 and Thursdays 12-2.

With the Holidays fast approaching, I felt this was a good time to let you know what is available if you live in Bath, W. Bath, Woolwich, Phippsburg, Arrowsic and Georgetown. If you do not live in this catch area, message me, let me know where you live and I will send you the information to a kit near you. If you are a family of 2 or more, we will be offering Thanksgiving kits. You will have to sign up in person for these kits, no phone or social media reservations will be accepted. The goal is to have 175-200 kits available. Sign up will begin Tuesday November 10th 12-1:30 and 4-6. We will offer these until November 19th. Distribution will be November 20th 12-2pm. We will be closed November 26th and December 24th. We worry about being closed for too long, so we will be open Wednesday November 25th and December 23rd from 12-1:30. This will be the outside tent only, no boxes.
If you are an individual, the
Phippsburg Sportsmen's Association is again offering a FREE Thanksgiving meal. If you can't get to the event, they will deliver a meal to you...or pick you up so you can enjoy the company of others, We are SO GRATEFUL to this organization for taking on such a huge undertaking. They have done an amazing job year after year!

Have you signed up for this years Turkey Trot?? It has truly grown so much and it SO MUCH FUN! We will have holiday characters at every corner and people at the finish line to cheer you on! We will begin trotting promptly at 8am so everyone can get home to create their Thanksgiving meal. You can arrive as soon as 6:30 am to sign up and check in...EVERYONE needs to check in so we have an idea how many people are trotting. We have some generous sponsors, Bath Savings, Creative Play, and Anne Page..are you interested in sponsoring this year?? We do our best to keep overhead as low as possible so 100% of what you donate goes directly to the families that need it. THANK YOU to the Bath Police Department for keeping our trotters safe on the route AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...do not trot down the middle of the road..please stay to the left. We have to make sure we are not stopping traffic. We have rented 2 outside porta potties and a hand washing station. YES, we invite anything with 2 or 4 legs (our 4 legged friends must be leashed) we LOVE seeing costumes and family t shirts, and there will be medals for the first 10 men and the first 10 women that cross the finish line. That being said you can run, jog, trot, walk or be pushed..we just want you to celebrate with us that morning!

We are getting so excited for the end of the year fundraiser at the Osprey...GOOD FOOD...great service and a silent auction..YEAH!

The Osprey in Georgetown has chosen the BATH FOOD BANK TO SUPPORT this year with their end of the year event! Please save the date October 25th to join us for an all you can eat buffet and raffles!

THANK YOU TONY for yet another very successful fundraiser! Every year, Tony creates a special dish at the food bank. This year he even made a tasty vegetarian version. Tony raised nearly $2000.00 that will go directly to food insecure families in the Bath area. THANK YOU TONY for giving so much of your time and energy to help us help so many.

We just saw this posted...and are humbled. We try so hard to feed over 650 families a month but we can not make everyone happy. Our catch area is Bath, W. Bath, Woolwich, Phippsburg, Arrowsic and Georgetown. That being said, no one leaves the BAFB without food. We do require some information, but that information never goes online and it is used to apply for certain grants. We can not fix things we are not aware of. PLEASE, if you have an issue let our director know so she can address it. Our families are increasing every week and we are doing our best to accommodate all of them.

United Ways of Maine have released the inaugural report “ALICE in Maine: A Study of Financial Hardship”, which shines a light on the financial hardships faced by individuals and families across the state. ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) families earn above the federal poverty level but not enough to afford basic expenses in the county where they live. ALICE represents many of us, our family members, friends, co-workers, and neighbors. You can learn more at aliceinmaine.org.

The ALICE Report reveals that households living below the ALICE threshold, including those living in poverty, represent:

46% of Brunswick (down 1%) and 36% of Harpswell (down 2%)
38% of Knox County (down 3%), including 50% of Rockland
37% of Lincoln County (down 3%), including 49% of Damariscotta
33% of Sagadahoc County (down 4%), including 44% of Richmond
40% of Maine (flat, ranked 28th); 41% of the U.S.

Unfortunately, this data isn’t surprising; many of us live paycheck-to-paycheck and struggle to survive and thrive. Our hope is that we can use the report to quantify and discuss the financial challenges of this critical population and continue to work together to find ways to help give kids the best start, build financial stability, and help all of us live healthy and connected lives.
