Did you know that Father’s Day started at the Y? Over 110 years ago, a young woman raised by her single father wanted to celebrate fatherhood. The first Father’s Day celebration was held at the Spokane YMCA on June 19, 1910.

❤️💛💚 Happy Juneteenth from the Tri-County YMCA! 💚💛❤️

Today, we honor and celebrate Juneteenth, a day that reminds us of the ongoing journey towards freedom, equality, and justice for all.

Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Although the Emancipation Proclamation was signed on January 1, 1863 – it took two and a half years for slaves in the state of Texas to hear of their freedom. On June 19, 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, with news that the Civil War was over and that all remaining slaves were free.

At the Tri-County YMCA of NY, we are committed to fostering an inclusive community where everyone feels valued and respected. Let’s take this opportunity to reflect, educate, and unite in the spirit of progress and solidarity.🖤

Help Shape the Future of Your YMCA! The Bath YMCA is looking for passionate, community-minded individuals to serve on our Branch Committee and help make a lasting impact in our community.

As a Branch Committee member, you'll play an important role in supporting the YMCA's mission, strengthening community connections, and helping guide the future of programs and services that serve local children, families, and seniors.

💙 What You'll Do:
✅ Serve as a YMCA ambassador in the community
✅ Provide feedback and ideas to support branch growth
✅ Assist with community outreach and relationship building
✅ Support fundraising efforts and special events
✅ Advocate for YMCA programs and services
✅ Help identify community needs and opportunities

182 years ago, a small group of young people in London sparked an idea that would grow into a global movement - a place for belonging, wellness, and community for all. Seven years later, the Y movement made its way to America (hence our Y175 anniversary campaign this year!)

The Y is still where people find connection, purpose, and the chance to become their best selves. From 1844 to today, there’s no place like this place. We’re a family. A support system. A force for good.

We are incredibly grateful to United Way of the Southern Tier for awarding the Tri-County YMCA not one, but TWO grants this year! 💙
The Hornell YMCA received funding to continue our Senior Lunch & Learn Project, helping us provide meaningful connection, education, and wellness opportunities for our seniors.
We also received a very generous contribution toward new equipment for the brand new Bath YMCA, including recumbent bikes, recumbent ellipticals, and a treadmill — helping us continue to create welcoming wellness spaces for our community.
A special thank you to Erin Wagener for accepting the awards, and to Natalie Donahue for submitting the grant applications on behalf of our YMCAs.
We truly appreciate the continued support and partnership from United Way of the Southern Tier!
