Individuals from Scarborough’s Special Olympics Maine team have been busy training and participating in the Cumberland County Track & Field Area Games at Bonny Eagle High School on May 22nd. They participated in the softball throw, the 50-meter run and the 100-meter walk. The weather was perfect and we had so many friends and family cheering us on. A big thank you to our coaches for coordinating and supporting our athletes!

On May 21st, both of our community support programs joined up for our annual Portland Sea Dogs baseball game. The weather was perfect and the company was even better! It was great catching up with friends while we picnicked on ballpark food and cheered for our local team. We have so many sports fans among us, that we feel lucky that this was the third sporting event we’ve been able to attend within the last 6 months! We’ve seen the Maine Celtics, the Maine Mariners Hockey and now the Sea Dogs. We can’t wait to see where the summer takes us!

Individuals from Auburn’s Special Olympics team have been busy training for the Special Olympics Maine State Games on June 5th, 6th & 7th. They have been practicing at Bates College and participated in the Androscoggin County Track & Field Area Games at Edward Little High School on May 12th. Please wish them well as they travel to Orono in a few weeks. A big shout out to our coaches and volunteers for coordinating, planning and supporting our athletes.
