Good afternoon BMDA,

We are one week away from the start of formal contract negotiations over our Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Kick-off the event by wearing RED on Monday, March 2nd and show your Solidarity with a lunch time walk with your coworkers.

Then "March Forth in Solidarity" on Wednesday, March 4th with another Solidarity lunch time walk in RED.

Come together on Saturday, March 7th for a Solidarity Rally from 9am to 1pm and show your support for all working Mainers.

You are the power the Negotiating Committee brings to the table and we will use that power in pursuit of a record contract that reflects record corporate profits.

Lastly, we will be moving all future negotiation updates to Action Network so please see your area Solidarity Captains if you aren't already signed up.

In Solidarity,
Your BMDA Executive Board

Good afternoon BMDA,

We've been notified that the Company sent out direction that any 1st shift BMDA employee in Maine who was WFH today needed to log-out of their asset and end their shift.

This was, again, a unilateral Company decision and was not at the request of the BMDA.

The automated BIW notices also just sent out the message that all facilities will be open for 2nd shift today (Monday 01/26).

However, to our knowledge, the Company has not yet made a determination as to whether the additional WFH day option for a weather event that IS allowable per the MOA will be offered.

We will try to keep folks updated on both the issue of what happened today on 1st shift as well as whether or not the MOA allowable option of an additional WFH day will be offered to 2nd shift as soon as we have relevant information.

Your BMDA Executive Board

Morning BMDA,

Regarding the 1st shift Maine facilities closure today and the Company's direction that those who participate in the WFH program may do so today:

1) This was a unilateral Company decision

and

2) This direction is in violation of the WFH MOA

That being said, the Company has authorized WFH today for those able - so, those members who are able and choose to WFH today should not face any consequence.

The larger issue is that regardless of the Company's intention, we now have a large number of members who do not even have the option of earning pay today as they are either not eligible to WFH or have chosen not to participate in WFH. This is exactly the scenario that the negotiated MOA language was designed to prevent.

The BMDA Executive Board is scheduled to meet tomorrow (Tuesday 01/27) and this will be first and foremost our agenda for discussion.

We appreciate your patience as we work through addressing this unexpected scenario and we will keep you updated as much as possible via this page as more information and/or determined actions become known.

Morning BMDA,

The Company published an Employee Service Announcement this morning, for distribution to include muster talks, acknowledging a system error resulting in the underreporting of now tax-exempt overtime on some W2 Box 14s.

Per the ESA, the Company is working the issue and will provide additional information to impacted employees by Friday, January 23rd.

While the BMDA has not yet received guidance from our legal counsel on this issue, hopefully the Company's correction resolves the matter.

In Solidarity,
Your BMDA Executive Board
