Here's a from the Y Archives:

๐Ÿ“†On this day in 1965, the Bath YMCA purchased 47 acres of wooded property on the New Meadows River in West Bath from the Crooker family. That land would go on to become Camp Davenport, named in honor George Davenport, founding secretary of the Bath Y and noted philanthropist.

For more than 30 years, the camp would provide a summer respite for kids in the community, including for children with disabilities through a partnership with the Elmhurst Association.

Did you ever go to summer camp at Davenport? What Y memories did you make there?

As the weather gets warmer, so does the opportunity for some stormy weather. We want to remind members about our inclement weather policy in the summer:

When there is lightning within 10 miles of Bath Y, we must close the pool area until 30 minutes after the last observed strike. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and cooperation in ensuring everyone's safety. Don't forget to sign up for our Y text/email alerts to get updates on closures and cancellations (https://bathymca.alertmedia.com/public/v2)

In addition, during inclement weather, Y summer campers must move inside to the gymnasium. Please be aware that this may impact regularly scheduled gymnasium activities. We appreciate your flexibility as we accommodate campers and camp activities through the summer.

"For over 26 years, the Bath Area Family YMCA's Freedom Tour has taken 8th grade students beyond the walls of their classrooms and into places where history comes alive. But what makes this program special is not simply where they go โ€” it is what happens along the way."
