Halloween at WRP is also Volunteer Appreciation Night, and we’re celebrating the people who make the Barn run.

Come in costume. Eat, dance, catch up with your theatre people, and join the optional β€œThriller” lesson. Haunted tours run from 6–8 PM for anyone who wants a scare, and the party keeps going until midnight.

WRP volunteers: your party-only pass is complimentary. Check your email and register by October 17 so we can get an accurate head count.

This time, come to the Barn with nothing to build, pour, cue, usher, or fix. Just come celebrate. 🧑

On November 2, rehearsals begin. On December 11, the curtain goes up.

Between those dates, performers ages 8–18 will build The Road to the Magic of Oz together as a fully staged production.

Rehearsals: Nov. 2–Dec. 9, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 4–6 PM
Performances: Dec. 11 and 12 at 7 PM

Absolutely epic weekend at Western Reserve Playhouse with Board President Patrick Hanlon!

Friday night saw the official announcement of O. Jackson as the winner of Broadway Bingo, with his solo cabaret date to be revealed. (He also placed a curse on the competition, but, you had to be there.)

Sunday we began a new annual tradition: Battle of the Bards. 8 brave competitors faced four fabulous judges with two prepared monologues and one random reading for a chance to win a cash prize.

Shley Viola Snider took home the crown and became our first ever champion by a unanimous vote!

Thanks to everyone who played at the barn this weekend.

We will continue to strive to produce unique, exciting opportunities for the artists of North East Ohio!

Tonight, the season belongs to Brian. The set list belongs to chance.

Brian O. Jackson has already won the 2026 Broadway Bingo season. Tonight, we celebrate himβ€”and then hand the night back to the bingo cage.

Every number determines a song. Neither the audience nor the performers know what is coming next. And with the season points settled, there is no standings strategy left: just surprises, live vocals and a chance for someone in the audience to win tickets to A Touch of the Poet.

Brian’s championship comes with his own solo cabaret at WRP in 2027. Come celebrate the champion before we announce when you can see him take the stage on his own.

You can rehearse rounds one and two. Round three does not care.

At Battle of the Bards, actors arrive with one dramatic and one comedic Shakespeare monologue prepared.

Make the final, and the safety net disappears: draw a new monologue at random, get only a brief window to make your choices, then perform it live.

No familiar piece to fall back on. Just the text, your instincts, and four judges who know exactly what they’re watching: Lara Mielcarek, Lisa Ortenzi, Maggie Vinter, and John Peters.

This Sunday, one performer becomes Western Reserve Playhouse’s first Battle of the Bards Championβ€”and takes the cash prize.
