To give athletes living with special needs an equal footing to pursue outdoor activities like walking and running by removing financial and logistical barriers to obtaining appropriate equipment. About Every Sole Counts
Every Sole Counts was born from a chance meeting between two of Special Olympics running athletes and members of What the Hill Running Club, a Batesville, Indiana-based group. Frie
ndships quickly formed, and before long, Luke and Isaac began joining the club for weekly group runs. As they became regular members, they started inviting some of their friends who also live with disabilities. It soon became clear that many of these talented runners lacked quality running shoes and other essential gear—items many take for granted. Recognizing this, the group decided to take action to ensure these remarkable athletes had “equal footing.” Their first step was a small group trip to a running store to help one athlete purchase new shoes. The sheer joy and pride this athlete felt from having a great pair of running shoes sparked an idea—one that would become Every Sole Counts. Our Mission
Every Sole Counts empowers Athletes with Special Needs by providing access to high-quality running gear that meets their individual needs. We believe that every athlete, regardless of their abilities or financial situation, deserves the opportunity to excel in their sport with confidence and comfort. Through community engagement, fundraising initiatives, and partnerships with like-minded organizations, we aim to remove barriers and ensure that all athletes have the essential gear to pursue their passion for running and walking. Our Inaugural Event
To support this mission, Every Sole Counts is hosting its inaugural professionally timed 4 mile Run/Walk, “Four on the Fourth,” on July 4th. Runners and walkers of all abilities are encouraged to participate and be part of this meaningful cause. Our Growth
Every Sole Counts is currently working in conjunction with Special Olympics ROD on fundraising efforts and is actively pursuing 501(c)(3) nonprofit status to expand its reach and impact.
