For Immediate Release:

We regret to inform you that as of 8/30/24 the Hoosier Tree Dog Alliance, Inc. is officially dismantling. We have tried diligently for the last two years to revive this organization and unfortunately we are no longer able to continue. We appreciate everyone who started this organization and those who have helped in any capacity over the years. If you would like to continue to support a hound organization, we encourage you to look at the National Houndsman Alliance that is currently being formed. You can find more information on their page.

We will have a H.T.D.A. meeting on Friday August 30th, at 2pm at Autumn Oaks in Richmond, IN. The meeting will be in the open air pavilion behind the food vendors.

We will be voting in a new President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary.

Please plan to attend if you have interest in helping with this organization.

Indiana Houndsmen 📢

We were contacted by the Indiana Council For Animal Welfare on the topic of House Bill 1412. There has been some confusion surrounding this bill with houndsmen thinking that they are trying to impede on our breeding programs and that is not the case. Under House Bill 1412 houndsmen would be exempt from the breeding laws that are being proposed. To the best of our knowledge, this bill is to crack down on the puppy mills that are breeding for the pet stores. H.T.D.A. president, Bryce Matthews, spent his day at the Attebury Fish & Wildlife Area yesterday attending the Indiana Sportsman's Roundtable meeting representing the houndsmen in Indiana. Members of several organizations were present including Ducks Unlimited, Indiana State Trappers, Indiana Department of Natrual Resources, Indiana Conservation Officers, Indiana Wildlife Federation, and several bowhunting organizations. This meeting was full of different outdoor organizations all coming together to discuss issues and topics that impact outdoor enthusiasts across the state.

💥FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE💥

After much discussion and dilliberation at our last meeting, the board members of the H.T.D.A. have decided to change one of our policies in hopes of benefitting our members by listening to their concerns. Going forward, we will only require ONE owner associated with a hound to be a paid-up member with our alliance to receive financial assistance should the unfortunate circumstance arise where they call upon us for help. This is a change from our old policy, which stated that both the owner and handler of a dog had to be paid members. We hope that this new change is well received by our members and hope that this is a step in the right direction for us going forward. Please feel free to message us with any questions regarding this policy change.

Also, we would like to thank Denny Merideth for his contribution to our alliance by serving out his 1 year term on our board. Denny decided to step down from the board at the end of his term, and Niki Elburn was voted in as a board member during the meeting.

We have formed an events committee so that we are better represented at events around the state and would love for members to volunteer to help us work these upcoming events. If you would like more information on those events, please reach out to Niki Elburn, Abby McCorkle, or Angie Cable.
