This month, we encourage teens, parents, and communities to speak up, recognize the warning signs, and support safe spaces where young people can thrive without fear.
• About 1 in 12 high school students who dated reported physical dating violence.
•About 1 in 10 reported sexual dating violence.
•In national survey data, 13.6% of students experienced teen dating violence (physical and/or sexual) in the past year.
•1 in 3 teens in the U.S. will experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from someone they’re dating before adulthood.
💡 Why it matters:
Dating violence can impact mental health, school performance, confidence, and future relationships. Awareness + education + support can save lives.
✅ Know the warning signs:
Extreme jealousy, constant check-ins, isolation from friends/family, humiliation, threats, pressure for sexual activity, monitoring phones/social media, or “apologize & repeat” cycles.
