Hello everyone!
Batavia’s own Boy Scout Troop 6 (the troop that runs the flag fundraiser) is going to be celebrating our 100th anniversary later this year!
We are planning to host a celebration in the months to come - but in the meantime we are looking for some local help.
You see, several years ago one of our former leaders lost most of the paperwork and memorabilia that had been accumulated over the years when his basement flooded.
So we would like to reach out to anyone who still has old uniforms, photos, patches, paperwork, newspaper articles, or other items related to Troop 6 specifically - or scouting in Batavia in general. We are pretty good with recent items but we are especially looking for items that are older than 15 years all the way to 100 years ago.
If you do not want to part with the item - we would love to see a photo of it or come photograph it ourselves.
We would also be happy to hold on to items for our celebration and then return them.
And finally - we would be excited to receive anything you want to donate to Troop 6 that would help us rebuild our history display.
Yes we have talked to the history museum and the library previously - and they do have some photos and news clips but not a lot more.
So we are asking our home town - did you have a dad or uncle or grandparent (or great grandparent) who was a scout in Batavia? (Even in another troop) Please let us know!
