Bastrop County Veterans Honor Guard

Bastrop County Veterans Honor Guard Honoring those who served with honor. Those of us who served this nation in the military understand what it means to give of oneself to this great land.

The Bastrop County Veteran's Honor Guard is men and women who care; people who care about Veterans that have served honorably in the Armed Forces of the United States - that they and their family receive the honor due them when he or she departs this life and enters the realm of the Almighty. We understand that while we served, we wrote a blank check payable to this country up to and including our

lives. Many thousands of our comrades have paid that ultimate price so that all of us might enjoy the fruits of freedom. The Bastrop County Veteran's Honor Guard is people who are concerned that we never forget the service rendered to our country by our Veterans - people who are saying by their action to the family of deceased Veterans, "We understand your grief at the loss of a loved one and we want to support you at this sorrowful time." We give freely of our time, (sometimes taking off from work), to honor a departed comrade, for we know that the service we render to others is the rent we pay for the space we occupy and we are especially appreciative of any support and donations to help us fulfill our mission. For more information about how we can help your veteran, about joining our organization, or to make a donation, contact Commander Mike Mallicote at (512) 360-5527 or Sr. Vic Commander Roy Wilsey at 512-308-5770. Request for arrangements can be made by contacting SGM Buddy Bailey at 512-581-7599.

When your Veteran passes, your local funeral home will contact us. We will need your Veteran’s DD-214 to determine they were Honorably discharged & to research their Military history which our Chaplain speaks about at our Solemn Ceremonies. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Frank Buentello (USAF) salutes the Flag as it is handed to John Hobbs (USMC). Ordinarily at a Solemn Ceremony the Flag would then be presented to the Next of Kin with one final, very slow salute. It is poignant.

Frank Buentello (USAF) and John Hobbs (USMC) folded the Flag while Tim Petrishen (far right, USAF) reads The Thirteen Folds which describes the meaning of each fold. We read The Thirteen Folds & fold the Flag at each Solemn Ceremony that we perform.
