Whooooos excited? We are...did you see owl puppets! Come out and welcome Wildlife Rescue of Central Texas (officially ) to the neighborhood and see all the amazing work they have been doing for their grand opening!

Have you heard?🧐 Our Grand Opening is happening this Saturday, October 3rd from 2pm-5pm. We hope you’ll come out and meet us and tour our new facility. We’ll have:
BBQ plates provided by Texas Firewalkers BBQ/Catering
Vegetarian sandwiches provided by
Wildlife-themed cookies provided Cowgirl Treatery
Drinks provided by Tito's Handmade Vodka

There will be a silent auction and we’ll post pictures of the items later this week. We’ll also be drawing names for door prizes every 30 minutes with gift cards from HEB, Walmart, and more. Bring the kids out to make owl puppets, get wildlife tattoos, and enjoy popsicles and a lemonade stand. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday!

Music is only part of the day at Prairie Rendezvous Fayette County!

Step inside historic Freyburg Hall for Prairie Stories, presented by our Prairie Legacy Sponsor Tancig Law. This series of informal presentations will explore the people, plants, and wildlife of Texas prairies.

Hear from Marvelyn Granger about her family’s prairie restoration work at Nellie Gail Ranch and the connection between native plants and pollinators. Drake Rangel of Texas Parks & Wildlife Department will introduce guests to live native Texas snakes and share more about their role in prairie ecosystems. Tom Shaughnessy of Texas Master Naturalists will explore the diversity of native bees and ways we can provide habitat for them. Jeff and Karen Post of the Gideon Lincecum Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists will take a closer look at native Texas bats and how acoustic monitoring helps us understand the species sharing our landscapes.

Join us October 3rd at Freyburg Hall for a full day of live music, prairie education, and family activities.

Volunteer opportunities this fall! 🍂

Do you love the trails at Colorado River Refuge and want to give back to your community? Did you know that all of our trail maintenance is done by volunteers??

Join us on the first Sunday of each month, from 9 AM–12 PM, for a morning of community trail service at the Refuge. We’ll be getting outside, getting a little dirty, and helping keep these trails welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.

Whether you’re a longtime volunteer or joining us for the first time, come lend a hand, meet some great people, and help take care of a place we all get to enjoy. 🥾

First Sundays of the month | 9 AM–12 PM

🌱 We’re excited to announce that the Bob Bryant Pollinator Prairie has received an H-E-B Pollinators for Texas grant for the THIRD year! 🐝🦋

Thank you, H-E-B, for helping the Lost Pines Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists continue this work at Bob Bryant Park.

🌿 A prairie doesn’t happen overnight! Restoring native habitat takes time, patience, and a lot of love. We’re growing something special—one little plant at a time. 💚

Happy National Nature Photography Day!

Places like Bastrop State Park give us the opportunity to experience and capture the beauty of the Lost Pines region right here in Bastrop County.

From towering loblolly pine trees and native grasses and wildflowers, to scenic trails and wildlife, these natural spaces remind us why protecting our environment and water resources matters.

As you explore the outdoors, remember to help protect the landscapes you love:
• Stay on designated trails
• Pack out trash
• Leave plants and wildlife undisturbed
• Help keep waterways clean
• Respect natural habitats

Healthy watersheds and ecosystems help preserve the beauty of places like Bastrop State Park for future generations to enjoy.
