It's Great Outdoors Month, so I *must* share: If you're looking for a summer adventure that's well worth the drive, check out Lockhart State Park!

About an hour from Downtown Bastrop, this one packs a lot into one park:

🥾 Hiking trails
🎣 Fishing spots
💦 Creek wading
🏕️ Tent and cabin camping
🏊 A swimming pool

Whether you're planning a day trip or a family weekend away, it's the kind of place where summer memories seem to make themselves.

Our family first discovered Lockhart State Park through K.I.N.D., a Bastrop-area parent-led community group and LPLC Guide Member. Since then, we've spent countless days exploring the trails, attending classes and events, and cooling off at the pool.

If you haven't been yet, add it to your summer bucket list. (If you have, it's probably on the schedule already!)

May lessons are a wrap and June session begins this weekend!

Half of June classes are already at capacity, but I see (1) spot left in a few of them. And Coach Roger opened up an extra Preschool class on Saturdays to make room for a handful of extra Beginner II swimmers!

Today is World Parents' Day. And I almost didn't post. But not because I forgot.

If you're a busy workin'-plannin'-doin'-mom-preneur only one week into summer, and already feeling stretched thin or like you need a clone to get it all done like me? I see you.

Let me remind you. You're doing great. Breathe. And repeat after me: "I am one person. I am doing the best I can."

Getting ready to share all the summer fun I've dug up in and around Bastrop County so far at the Bastrop Public Library tomorrow morning💥With kid-in-tow of course, because summer reading, right? and because that's just how we mommas fit in *all* the things!🌞

So swing in, swap a book, and swing by to take a look at my Summer Camp Guide, check into Coach Roger's Swim Program before June sessions start, and get a peek at LPLC's curriculum library progress while you're there!

Join the Friends at the Bastrop Public Library's Community Fair on Saturday, May 30 from 10 AM to noon. The Fair will be a great opportunity to learn about summer camps, classes, events and activities hosted by Bastrop community organizations.

We will be hosting a book swap (bring a book, take a book or browse) and also handing out entry forms for our annual bookmark design contest! See you there!

You've made it to the finish line...or for some of you, almost!

The mantra for the week? "We grow as we go."

Following Speech-Language Pathologist Day and continuing on with Better Hearing & Speech Month I want to point to Bastrop-local provider, Meredith Brown.

She has been offering pediatric speech therapy in Bastrop since 2018, and brings 14 years of experience to a practice that is woven together with parent partnership, joyful connection, and the belief that communication grows best in relationship.

Her work centers caregivers as essential partners, supporting children in building skills through trust, play and everyday moments.

She recently opened up her schedule a bit more, and I know her schedule is going to fill quickly - I recommend reaching out if you've been searching for a great speech therapist here locally!

Every child's voice is different. Some speak in bursts. Others in movement. Still others speak in time. And some need the right support before their voice feels like their own.

Today, Speech-Language Pathologist Day, we're cheering for the specialists and families helping children find their voice, in whatever form that takes.

Shining a spotlight on one of my favorite local practitioners, Hannah Burson. Her work is rooted in the idea that healing isn't only cognitive, it's embodied.
