Meet Katie Martucci.

Before Becca Stevens takes the stage Saturday night at Ross Farm, we’ll welcome Brooklyn-based songwriter Katie Martucci for a special opening set.

Katie’s songs explore what she calls the “unspoken third thing in the room”—the emotions, questions, and experiences we don’t always have words for. Drawing from friendships, imposter syndrome, her own journey with epilepsy, and the complicated beauty of everyday life, her music is intimate, cinematic, and deeply human.

“No matter what Katie Martucci chooses to sing, it absolutely captivates us. Her voice is incredible, warm, and personal.” - Ear to the Ground Music

If you love artists like Madison Cunningham, Emily King, or Becca Stevens herself, plan to arrive early - you won’t want to miss Katie’s set.

🌸Give peas a chance!

Our snow, snap, and shell peas are blooming beautifully, and the countdown to pea season is on. While most blossoms are classic white, a few are showing off in these lovely shades in Boudinot’s Giving Garden.🪏

Becca Stevens is one of those artists who seems to live comfortably between genres ~ folk, jazz, indie, pop, and something entirely her own.

A 2X Grammy-nominated artist, songwriter, guitarist, and producer, Becca has collaborated with everyone from Jacob Collier and Brad Mehldau to David Crosby and Snarky Puppy, while building a devoted following for music that is both adventurous and deeply personal.

On Saturday, June 6, she’ll bring a special trio performance to the historic Ross Farm, joined by Brooklyn singer-songwriter Katie Martucci.

If you’ve never experienced a concert at the Farm, this is a wonderful place to start - an intimate setting, great music, and a summer evening under the Somerset County sky.

We had the pleasure of attending the Somerset County Historic Preservation & History Awards Ceremony last night at the Environment Education Center to cheer on our friend and fellow board member, Bruce McArthur, as he received the History in Action Award from the Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission.

It was a proud and heartfelt evening celebrating Bruce’s dedication to preserving and sharing the stories of our community. Whether serving as Ross Farm Historian, helping guide projects that connect people to local history, supporting the music series, or simply telling the stories of Somerset County with warmth and enthusiasm, Bruce brings history to life in ways that truly matter.

Those of us who work alongside him know how much care, time, and heart he pours into the Ross Farm and so many other local organizations. Seeing that commitment recognized publicly was incredibly meaningful.

The evening was also a wonderful reminder of just how many people across Somerset County are working to preserve and share local history. From longtime community leaders to inspiring student award recipients already making their own contributions, it was uplifting to hear so many stories of dedication, curiosity, and service. The future of local history is clearly in good hands.

Congratulations, Bruce - and thank you for helping keep the history of Ross Farm, Bernards Township, and Somerset County alive for all of us…while also helping make sure there’s always some really good music echoing across the Farm grounds, too. 🎶👏🏼

A little glimpse of late May in the Giving Garden 🌱

Chives, marigolds, and basil now border one of our newest beds, where eggplant rests under row covers beside newly planted okra seed, with peas lining the edge and garlic standing tall in the background.

We’re also growing plenty of milkweed to welcome monarch butterflies and support pollinators throughout the season 🦋

And perhaps our most unexpected garden visitor of the week - a snapping turtle who decided the sunflower bed looked like the perfect place to lay her eggs 🐢🌻

We also harvested yesterday for God’s Co-op Pantry, bringing fresh lettuce, asparagus, and cilantro. Boudinot’s Giving Garden has now donated more than 185 pounds of fresh produce this season.

Every season brings something new at the Farm ~ vegetables, flowers, wildlife, and small moments that remind us how connected it all is.

A heartfelt thank you to Sandy Josephson and the New Jersey Jazz Society for this wonderful follow-up coverage of our 2nd Annual Ross Farm Jazz Fest on May 9. We were so proud to welcome these extraordinary young musicians - and the incredible educators and mentors guiding them - to the Farm this spring.

We look forward to continuing to grow jazz at the Ross Farm for years to come!
