Hello Dog Walkers! It's hard to believe that summer is more or less over. Well, the Lord Stirling Stable dog walkers have decided to embrace our denial and extend "summer hours" through the end of September. We will return to "non-summer" hours on Saturday, October 2nd - regular pace at 10:00 and fast pace at either 9:30 or 10:30 (TBD). Monday and Wednesday evening walks will be suspended at that time.
We invite you to attend and/or participate in our "Wonder-Fur" silly dog show (aka Dog Days) on Sunday, September 19th at 2:30 on the grounds of Sunrise Senior Living, 404 King George Road in Basking Ridge (about 1/4 mile from Rt. 78). Our friends and neighbors at Sunrise - and their community dog Tessie - are thrilled to welcome us for this fun event. Classes include Best Costume, Best Bark, Best Trick, and many more. A $5 donation entitles you to enter as many classes as you wish. All proceeds will benefit the Plainfield Area Humane Society. See attached flyer - and see you there!
Please note, parking at Sunrise is limited - please park either next door at Farmstead Park soccer field or across the street at Dewy Meadow Village.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of beloved retired lesson horse TJ.

TJ was a favorite of many riders and staff members at the Stable. He was a small horse with a big personality! Countless riders took their introductory trail ride or first few steps of the canter on the back of TJ. He was always popular in the summer camps and workshops, and he would (loudly) let everyone know when it was time to be turned out each and every night!

TJ lived a long, happy life at the Stable with his pasture mates and enjoyed a retirement full of pampering and treats. He will be missed and was one of the few left of his "generation."

Please share your stories, memories, and photos of TJ in the comments section below. We extend a heartfelt thank you to all who donated and sponsored TJ in his retirement. ❤️

It is with a heavy heart we share the news of the passing of our beloved instructor and founder of the FLSS retirement program, Jean Stamey. Jean was in an accident on Friday and passed away. Jean was loved by many and will be missed dearly.

Please keep her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Flashback Friday time! Rebel was quite the character who often served as an ambassador to the little kids and their families who would come to the stable. Whether it was a pony ride or a hug, Rebel was always up for either. Do you have a favorite memory of Rebel? Let us know in the comments!
