-Support local dances for the adult special needs community.
-Fundraise to supply need items and niceties for our local group home residents.
-Organize volunteers from the local schools for their community service hours. These dances, while hosted by the Bethel Ridge Group home are open to all local homes where adults with Special Needs reside as well as to those who live at home with their pa
rents. The goal of the many dances is to provide a great night out for guests to engage with their peers and just enjoy a night out with music , dance contests and more. At these dances we plan and set the decorations, prepare and serve the food as well as engage with the guests. Engaging with our friends at Bethel Ridge has increased over time. All of our community service hours have been spent with our friends at Bethel Ridge. We spent one summer baking, gardening, doing puzzles, an afternoon out at Starbucks with our friends. With Covid brought the cancellation of the dances and ability to be together at their home or in the community so we switched gears to bringing the joy to them! Working with the wonderful supervisors at Bethel Ridge we focused on fundraising to provide needed kitchen supplies to the group home and because our efforts brought in so much more than planned we were able provide gift certificates for some special meals from local businesses. While we have been an unofficial club since 2016 we realize as we are all now in High School that we wanted to create a club that will continue on after we move on to college. The Friends of Bethel Ridge was created with longevity in mind. Group members can volunteer per dance, as part of the planning board, to bake, to decorate, to fund raise or to complete their community service hours as needed. All volunteering is welcomed. As inclusive as our time as been with the local Special Needs community we wanted our group to be the same, inclusive.
