Treasurers Report
No update, bank account has not yet been established.
Fundraising:
T.J. emailed a rough draft of a letter we can use to solicit businesses/entities for funding once we have more details on our needs. This could be used along with a GoFund Me request.
Discussion on a GoFundMe to assist Lisa with her medical/other related needs. Eddie will connect with Lisa first and if acceptable, members will share thoughts on a description that could be used on the GoFundMe page. Note, this would be personal funds, not funds from PCSAA.
Eddie provided an update on Bird Dog Boats (Cedar Key) for Lake Hancock & Circle B. Thomas and Eddie are looking into Camp Mack and the Guy Harvey Resort. They also anticipate working with Commissioner Bill Braswell on future access at Circle B.
Membership:
We all need to work to help grow membership. All in agreement if we shared more information on the areas we work on/advocate for, in addition to highlighting needs that are lacking for people with disabilities would help to grow membership. Such as Ridge Park (in the Panhandle) was the only place in the state with a wheel chair swing but it was damaged during the hurricane and without a state ADA director, unsure when it would ever reopen. Suggestion made to start bringing awareness to this fact, Manyvone offered to write a letter to the editor to share this information with the public and advocating to get other wheelchair swings in the state/county.
New Business:
Janet touched on a radio discussion on WUSF about Silvar Springs and how their boats were adapted for people with disabilities (physical and visual).
Eddie shared information on the non-profit Adaptive Recreation and it is looking into potential fundraising with Knights of Columbus, Rotary, Sports Ability and more.
Eddie suggested we might be able to team up with the VA, and PCSAA can help take veterans out using an eco-rover Trac chair.
Next Meeting: November 29th at 7:30 pm
