Wounded Warrior Sportsmen Fund The Wounded Warrior Sportsmen Fund was founded in 2010 to support outdoor activities for our wounded veterans.

As outlined in our mission statement, we are committed to the grateful appreciation to those who have sacrificed for our freedom. The Wounded Warrior Sportsmen Fund’s success in providing positive rehabilitative experiences to our wounded Veterans has been remarkable. The WWSF has hosted three Osceola turkey hunts in cooperation with Operation Outdoor Freedom, on lands owned by the Florida Forest

Service. Each of the hunts has been guided, staffed, and two, have been completely funded by the Wounded Warrior Sportsmen Fund. On these opening weekend morning hunts, the harvest success rate has been eighty percent. For over thirty Wounded Warriors, the weekend is often the first experience a soldier has with a firearm since the time they were wounded. For about half of the warriors, it is the first time in the woods to take wild game. It’s often the key to turning a hard, traumatic experience with a weapon into a positive, fun weekend with other soldiers of like experience. They experience the outdoors at its best; fellowship with other soldiers, they relax in a no pressure camp life far away from the doctors, hospitals and the pressure of learning to live with their new normal life, knowing that others care enough to give. We, as outdoorsmen, know that there is no one more patriotic and caring than those that choose the outdoors. American outdoorsmen are always at the front of the line to share with the ones that so richly deserve. We will continue to honor those who sacrificed and hope that you will join in the efforts of the new normal life of our American Wounded Warriors. This morning we conducted the random selection of the 10 veterans that will be participating. Emails will be going out shortly to all applicants, so please keep an eye out for that. Congratulations to those listed below. We are looking forward to a great event.

We will follow the same eligibility requirements put in place by the state organization: Florida residents who are honorably discharged military veterans with either a service-connected disability rating of 30 percent or greater from the United States Department of Veteran Affairs or Purple Heart recipient.

Please have your participant profile created with your eligibility documents uploaded (Valid FL drivers license and VA paperwork stating at least 30 percent service related disability). We must approve your membership before you are active on the site.
