K9 Havoc Helps Apprehend Fleeing Larceny Suspect!!

In the early morning hours of October 16, 2026, Bartlesville Police Department night shift officers located a larceny in progress near Herrick and Penn.

Upon arriving in the area, an officer located two male subjects on foot. After noticing the patrol vehicle, both subjects attempted to evade officers. One quickly walked away from the area, while the other took off running into a nearby wooded area.

During the initial investigation, the officer discovered a freshly cut hole in the fence of a nearby business. The two males were also suspected of stealing copper from a utility pole in the area.

Officers quickly detained the first male while additional units responded to establish a perimeter around the wooded area where the second suspect had fled.

K9 Havoc was deployed to track the fleeing suspect through the dense woods. After a short track, Havoc alerted K9 Handler Sgt. Gonzalez that the suspect was nearby.

Officers made announcements into the dark, heavily wooded area, advising the suspect to surrender or K9 Havoc would be sent in to locate him.

Apparently, the suspect decided that meeting Havoc in the dark wasn’t how he wanted to end his night. He quickly surrendered to officers without further incident.

But Havoc wasn’t finished just yet!

After assisting officers in locating the fleeing suspect, Havoc continued working and successfully located burglary tools the suspects had concealed in the area.

Both males were taken into custody on larceny and damage to property charges.

Fantastic work by our night shift officers!! And to Havoc it was just another day at the office doing what he loves. Good boy Havoc!!

Bartlesville Police K9’s are still at it!!!!

K9 Bodhi (Floppy ear bird dog) and K9 Havoc (Speedy bite ninja) are both assigned to night shift. Both of these cases were initiated with a traffic stop.

K9 Bodhi- Traffic stop near Frank Phillips Blvd and Short Ave. The driver was stopped for a defective tail light. K9 Bodhi was deployed for a free air sniff around the vehicle. A subsequent search was completed after Bodhi alerted on the vehicle. Approximately 12.7 grams of suspected M**h was located along with approximately 3.3 grams of suspected Fentanyl. The driver was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute and trafficking of Fentanyl.

K9 Havoc- Traffic stop near 14th street and Santa Fe. The driver was stopped for an expired tag. K9 Havoc alerted on the vehicle during a free air sniff. A subsequent search uncovered a fi***rm, counterfeit currency, and suspected M**hamphetamine. The driver was found to be a convicted felon and prohibited from legally possessing a fi***rm. The driver was arrested and charged with possession of fi***rm after felony conviction, and possession of m**h.

We are grateful for our four legged partners that help us daily. They work so hard for our handlers and the community!!

The first week these two teams were narcotic certified in Oklahoma they made three felony cases. One possession with intent to distribute (M**h) and two Trafficking of a controlled dangerous substance (M**h). All began with traffic stops. Great job K9 Bodhi, K9 Havoc and handlers. We will continue to fight against those who wish to bring these poisons into our community.

For those who have never worked a police K9, it’s difficult to understand the bond between a handler and their partner. Handlers often spend more time with their K9 than they do with their own families. They work together every shift, train together for countless hours, and face challenges side by side. Through it all, these remarkable dogs ask for nothing more than the opportunity to work and the chance to please their handler.

Then, what feels like only a short time later, comes the day every handler dreads; the day they must say goodbye to the most loyal and dedicated partner they have ever known.

K9 Duke or “The Dukester” was no exception.

Duke was an extraordinary police dog with a work ethic that was second to none. Throughout the Bartlesville community, he was easily recognized by his signature mohawk and admired for his unwavering drive. Duke was so dependable and eager to work that many of our now-seasoned K9 handlers began their careers alongside him. During his years of service, Duke played a vital role in removing countless kilograms of illegal narcotics from the streets of Bartlesville and helped make our community a safer place.

It is with profound sadness that we say farewell to K9 Duke.

This morning, Duke crossed the Rainbow Bridge surrounded by his loving owner, Deputy Chief Newell, and his family. At nearly 15 years old, Duke lived a long life filled with purpose, dedication, and unconditional love.

Thank you, Duke, for your faithful service, your unwavering loyalty, and the countless lives you touched throughout your career.

You have earned your rest.

Run free, Duke. We will take it from here.

We have some big changes taking place in the K9 unit and will try to keep everyone updated on those changes. One of those being the addition of K9 Havoc. Havoc is a 2 year old Belgian Malinois imported from Hungary. Havoc will serve as a dual purpose K9 assisting patrol and eventually our Special Operations Team. Our goal is to keep Havoc safe, so that he can assist in keeping you safe. Brady’s K9 Fund have helped vest our furry partners/friends in the past and we are extremely grateful to have their support. If you wish to take part in that support please click the link. Huge thank you to all of supporters and citizens who are consistently showing us love and support.
