Building Bridges is hosting a FREE community Poverty Simulator
This event will take place on Tuesday, November 10, 2026 4pm-6pm at Tri-County Tech.

In this simulation, you will assume the identity of someone in poverty and live a "month" in their life. Getting the opportunity to "live" in poverty helps to create a deeper understanding of what poverty is, what challenges people in poverty face daily, and how you can better support the people in your community that live in poverty.

This semester, we've been inviting community members & our board members to join us for Thursday night dinners. We believe the work we do is powerful, and when you get to talk with someone who's been through the program and hear the way it's changed their life you can't help but want to be a part of it.

We are especially thankful for Pat Moore, Donna Skelly, and Rebecca Hawkins! These board members have been showing up and pouring into our families through dinner and classes all semester long.

Having active board members who believe in the mission is so powerful and we are so grateful. 🤍

So excited for another family dinner tonight with Building Bridges.

Our program runs every Thursday night and each week we make it a priority to model family dinner with our clients. Serving dinner helps to remove barriers that might make it hard for families to attend classes. It's also a great opportunity to build camaraderie among peers and model healthy behaviors they can take home.

It's not always easy to feed 60+ people each week, but we are so thankful for our community that supports us in this mission; including our friends at Bartlesville Rotary Club 2476 ❤️

What a Thursday night!

Last week
- we celebrated a birthday (🎉).
- Young Professionals of Bartlesville came to serve us dinner 😋
- some friends from The Agape' Mission of Bartlesville joined us for a meal

Family dinner is a big deal to us at Building Bridges and it’s so sweet when our community shows up.

After we ate, we broke out into our different classes. I’m particularly thankful for our skilled youth & children’s teachers, today. The children in our program are walking through the same 11 Essential Resources as their parents, in a way that feels tangible to them. This way, they can break the cycle and be set up for success when they move out and go out on their own.

Our older youth class talked about the importance of working with the hand we are dealt; what can we do with a crummy situation? It’s so awesome to see young people learning principles that it took me way too long to understand, myself.

Serving the entire family is so important and such a gift.
