The Voice of the Martyrs - USA Serving persecuted Christians in the world's most difficult and dangerous places to follow Christ. His wife, Sabina, was imprisoned for three years.

VOM was founded in 1967 by Pastor Richard Wurmbrand, who was imprisoned in Communist Romania for 14 years for his faith in Christ. In the 60s, Richard, Sabina, and their son, Mihai, were ransomed out of Romania and came to the United States. Through their travels, the Wurmbrands spread the message of the atrocities that Christians face in restricted nations, while establishing a network of offices dedicated to assisting the persecuted church. The Voice of the Martyrs continues in this mission around the world today through the following main purposes:

1. To encourage and empower Christians to fulfill the Great Commission in areas of the world where they are persecuted for their involvement in propagating the gospel of Jesus Christ. We accomplish this by providing Bibles, literature, radio broadcasts, medical assistance, and other forms of aid.

2. To give relief to the families of Christian martyrs in these areas of the world.

3. To equip local Christians to love and win to Christ their enemies who are opposed to the gospel in countries where believers are actively persecuted for their Christian witness.

4. To undertake projects of encouragement, helping believers rebuild their lives and Christian witness in countries that have formerly suffered Communist oppression.

5. To emphasize the fellowship of all believers by informing the world of atrocities committed against Christians and by remembering their courage and faith.

For nearly 50 years, Iran’s oppressive Islamic regime has tried to restrict efforts to spread the gospel. Many Christian ministries have developed specialized media strategies to circumvent the regime’s restrictive policies. During recent conflicts, even as the Iranian government cut the internet and tried to jam satellite broadcasts, Christian satellite TV programming was still viewable in most areas, and some Iranians still found ways to connect to outside ministries using VPNs and other creative means. One front-line worker said around 1,200 Farsi speakers come to know Christ monthly through the ministry. “People are ready, and we need to be ready to help establish people and disciple them,” he said. Pray for the people of Iran, and pray that Christians will have boldness and opportunity to share the hope of Christ despite the risk.

Arman leads a team of online evangelists as part of a media ministry that reaches into Iran through the internet. The ministry engages people across various platforms to answer their questions about Christianity and — when they are ready — invites them into online discipleship and fellowship. Among those who write in to the ministry, some are genuine seekers, while others are Muslims who want to critique or attack Christianity and threaten the ministry. At one point Arman learned that his brother, still in Iran, had been arrested and beaten by government officials for engaging in protests. They sent a message through this brother, saying, “We know that [Arman] is a Christian, doing activities for Christian people. If we catch him, we will burn him alive.” When Arman heard this threat, he responded with faith. “I know that they have threatened, and maybe it will happen again, but … I believe in God,” he said. Arman asked for prayer that more Iranians would receive the message of Jesus and want to grow deeply in their knowledge of him.

The man then demanded that Rakesh say “Jai Sri Ram” (a Hindu slogan used for worship), but Rakesh refused. That night, the stranger filed criminal charges against Rakesh, claiming Rakesh tried to convert him. Rakesh and his wife remain faithful to their calling even as their extended family have begun to oppose them, demanding that they return to the Hindu religion to avoid these legal troubles.
