We were at an event this weekend at the Bartlesville Cultural Center. There were banners on the wall providing the history of Bartlesville. Our map was used to illustrate Hudson Lake!

Update regarding bridge on Sunset.

Additional information appeared in City Beat earlier this week:

According to the Engineering Department, striping on the Sunset Bridge over Butler Creek is expected to get underway later this week, and the bridge should reopen early next week. The bridge was closed in January for deck replacement and guardrail improvements. The $2.1 million project was funded by $1.2 million in sales tax funds and $814,369 in 2020 General Obligation Bond funds.

Plans for a parallel pedestrian bridge over Butler Creek as part of the Pathfinder Parkway are awaiting the go-ahead from the State, which provided $300,000 for the project through the Recreational Trails Program.

Voters approved $400,000 for the project in Half-cent Capital Improvement Project (CIP) Sales Tax funds. Due to escalating construction costs, the project is expected to cost $700,000 to complete.

UPDATE: The bridge reopened today after contractors finished striping earlier this morning.

Sunset Bridge remains CLOSED as contractors work to complete the voter-approved project. Motorists are asked to avoid using the bridge until it can be reopened, which is expected to occur early next week. The bridge was closed in January for deck replacement and guardrail improvements. It was nice to get out and play on the trails today instead of working on them!! ☀️🚲 Even if there is some tree debris across the trail. 🪾

End of Day Update for Aug 2

Adam was able to clear the rest of the trees that were on the Barbwire Trail. More trimming needs to be done on the east side as well removing any additional tree debris. That will be done another day. If anyone wants to tackle that themselves, let us know!

LAST MINUTE WORKDAY
SUNDAY, AUG 2
10:00 til mid afternoon
EAST SIDE TRAILHEAD

Adam has decided to take advantage of the cooler weather this morning and work on the trails. Will be doing trimming and tree removal on the east side, concentrating on Barbwire and Armadillo Trails.

If you have some free time, grab your chainsaw, loppers and/or w**deater and join him. Additional help means less he’ll have to do himself.

He will be at the east side trailhead around 10:00 and working til mid afternoon or when he gets tired. Won’t be there all day. No official time to come out to help. Just show up based on your own schedule but you can catch a ride from him if you arrive at 10:00.

We had several volunteers come out to work on the trails yesterday! We appreciate all the help! Nice morning to be working with upper 70’s at the start but warmed up to 90 when we called it a day at 11:00.

Managed to get some trimming done along with removing several downed trees. There’s still lots of work that needs to be done so another workday will be scheduled soon.

Too busy for before and after photos of the volunteers so enjoy these of the trailhead and of the lake.

MEET AT THE EAST TRAILHEAD PIZZA WILL BE PROVIDED at 11:00 WATER WILL BE AVAILABLE

WE NEED SEVERAL VOLUNTEERS TO HELP TRIM GRASS AND CLEAR TREES FROM THE TRAILS

We will work on the east side trails for this workday and schedule another workday soon for the west side.

Bring your w**d eaters and any other equipment for trimming!! If you want to help but don’t have the equipment, come out anyway. We can use all the help we can get!
