There is a lot going on in our community now a days. Election day will come and go, and we as a family, will keep moving forward. We hope to see our community continue to grow strong with the desire to work together as a whole. The village is our home and the businesses make the village the hub of our Township. We look forward in the continuation of severing our community. There are tip sheets located at the Village Office, and a drop box is available. In an emergency please remember to call 911

Barryton Police Department now has a prescription medication drop box located at the Barryton Village office and Police Department thanks to the kind donation by Rite Aid & Kid Cents. Please bring any expired or unused medications that you would like to have properly disposed of.

BARRYTON EMBEZZLEMENT CASE - HOMETOWN GROCERY

Mary Grein, 57, of Barryton was sentenced to 30 days in the Mecosta County Jail on 12-5-16 for a guilty plea to an embezzlement charge. The charge stemmed from a lengthy investigation conducted by the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office that lead to Grein’s arrest for having embezzled from her former employer, Riverside Hometown Grocery in Barryton. Grein was also ordered by the Court to pay $865.00 fines & costs, $522.00 restitution, and perform 80 hours of community service.

BARRYTON BURGLAR FROM SUNOCO B+E ARRESTED & ARRAIGNED:

Shane Allen Hunt , 23, of Barryton was arraigned in 77th District Court on 9-13-16 where he was charged with breaking & entering of a building, safe breaking, & larceny in a building for the 8-29-16 break in at The Hometown Riverside Grocery & Sunoco gas station in Barryton. The arrest came after a lengthy investigation by the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office that lead to Hunt being the suspect that was captured on video by the stores security cameras during the break in. Hunt is being held on $500,000 bail in the Mecosta County Jail pending further court action.
