On Oct. 11th, 2026 at 7:51pm, Barry and Emhouse VFDs were dispatched to the area of FM 1126 and NWCR 1270 for a fire investigation. Multiple callers reported seeing a large fire that appeared to be moving.

Barry VFD responded with Engine 3382 and Brush 3352 staffed by 4 volunteers. Upon arrival the fire was found to be a brush pile that was under control and being monitored by the property owner.

We appreciate concerned citizens for reporting the fire. Before you conduct a controlled burn please remember to call the Navarro County Sheriff Office’s non-emergency line at (903) 654-3002 and notify dispatch of the location of the burn.

On Oct. 11th at 12:57am, Barry VFD was dispatched to provide mutual aide to Rice and Chatfield VFDs on NWCR 0141 for a structure and vehicle on fire. Corsicana Fire was also dispatched for mutual aid.

Barry VFD responded with Engine 3382,
Engine 3380, and 4 volunteers. Upon arrival Barry units provided water support to units already on scene.

All Barry units cleared and retuned to station at approximately 4am.

We were quite literally backing the last truck in the bay after the fundraiser when we and Emhouse VFD were dispatched to a grass fire on NWCR 0011. Barry VFD responded with Engine 3382, Brush 3352, and 4 volunteers.

All units were disregarded while enroute. No rest for the weary! We have too many people and business to thank in this post. Look for that post tomorrow!

The burn ban has been lifted. Please exercise caution as wildfire conditions are still elevated.

🔥 NAVARRO COUNTY BURN BAN LIFTED 🔥

10:00 AM | October 9, 2026 — The Navarro County Commissioners Court has officially lifted the countywide Burn Ban, effective at 10:00 AM today.

Recent rainfall has improved conditions across much of Navarro County; however, we ask all residents to continue using caution with any outdoor burning. Fire conditions can change quickly, especially with dry vegetation, wind, and lower humidity.

If you plan to burn outdoors, please:

• Follow all Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Outdoor Burning Rules and Regulations
• Check weather conditions before beginning any burn
• Avoid burning on windy days
• Never leave a fire unattended
• Keep water and fire-suppression equipment readily available
• Make sure the fire is completely extinguished before leaving the area

The lifting of the Burn Ban does not remove the responsibility to conduct outdoor burning safely and in accordance with applicable state and local regulations.

On Oct. 7th at 6:27pm, Barry VFD was dispatched to a possible gas leak near a residence on NWCR 2020. BVFD responded with Engine 3382 staffed by two volunteers.

Upon arrival, the crew found that a propane tank had shifted off its foundation which caused a cracked supply line. The propane tank was shut off by the resident prior to arrival. No further gas leak was found.

Barry VFD is staffed by volunteers and funded by donation. Please com by and see us this Saturday, Oct. 10th from 5-7pm to support your first responders.
