The Major Richard Star Act discharge petition reached 218 signatures on Sept. 16.

That means the clean bill can move forward on its own, separate from TCAVA.

Congress may be out of session, but advocacy doesn’t take a break. Find your local town hall and ask your representative if they plan to vote YES on the Major Richard Star Act this Congress, WITHOUT reducing veterans’ compensation to pay for it.

Veterans are watching.

Here are a few important things Veterans should know:

🏥 𝐕𝐀 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫. Having both can give you more options for care outside the VA.

📅 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐞𝐧𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬. Your Medicare enrollment window generally begins three months before your 65th birthday and ends three months after. Delaying Medicare Part B may result in permanent late-enrollment penalties.

🎖️ 𝐇𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐄? Eligible military retirees generally need Medicare Parts A and B to keep their TRICARE benefits and transition to TRICARE For Life.

Join fellow female veterans for a Pheasant Hunt Retreat filled with camaraderie, outdoor adventure, great food, and an opportunity to connect with other women who have served! 🇺🇸

📍 Retreat lodging in Medford, Wisconsin
🍽️ Potluck dinner and social time around 6:30 PM

🍳 Breakfast at the retreat
🚗 Depart at 7:00 AM for Little Hills Hunting Preserve in Gilman, WI
🦃 Pheasant Hunt begins at 8:00 AM
🥪 Lunch at the preserve following the hunt
🍽️ Potluck dinner and fellowship that evening

Don’t have hunting gear or a sh***un? Several participants have extra hunting gear and sh***uns available for veterans who may not have their own. Please ask for details when you call.

💲 Lodging Cost: $100 per person for the two-night stay
The lodging cost may decrease depending on the number of attendees. Participants should also plan for donations to the hunting guides and bring their own snacks and beverages.

This retreat is about more than a day in the field—it’s an opportunity for Wisconsin’s female veterans to build friendships, share experiences, and enjoy a weekend surrounded by others who understand the bond of military service.
