Today at BHS, nearly 700 freshmen across the school day were peer-taught about the dangers of fentanyl by students from the Josh Burks Foundation Council.

This student-led club continues to make a real impact by educating their classmates, spreading awareness, and helping protect young people in our community.

A huge thank you to the JBFC students, Barrington High School staff, teachers, and administrators who helped make today possible. We are so proud to see Joshโ€™s legacy carried forward through student leadership, education, and community support. ๐Ÿ’™

Merry Christmas from the Josh Burks Foundation๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ

Fact Friday! JBFC students spoke with Seรฑora Quinlan, a Spanish teacher at BHS, to share an important truth about fake pills.
According to the DEA, fentanyl is now the leading driver of overdose deaths in the U.S. โ€” often found in counterfeit pills that look like real prescriptions.
Stay informed. Stay safe. ๐Ÿ’™

Every conversation counts. ๐Ÿ’ฌ
This week, the JBFC visited classrooms to talk with students about fentanyl โ€” why some teens take risks and where to turn for help.
Letโ€™s break the stigma and keep the dialogue open. ๐Ÿ’™

This weekโ€™s fact is about the signs of a fentanyl overdose โ€” slow or no breathing, blue lips or fingertips, and unresponsiveness.
If you ever suspect an overdose, act fast and use Narcan! It can save a life. ๐Ÿ™

Under the Friday night lights, Law, Cyndi, and our amazing JBFC students came together to spread awareness about fentanyl and bring positivity to our community.

These students are incredible โ€” turning a tough topic into something people feel comfortable talking about. Thatโ€™s how real change happens. ๐Ÿ’ฌ

Huge thank you to Barrington High School and the BHS football team for having us out again and letting us connect with so many people. Your support means everything. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Go Broncos! ๐Ÿดโค๏ธ

Think you know how strong fentanyl is? ๐Ÿ’Š
JBFC members and Mr. Voris, a BHS Teacher & Coach, break it down โ€” just 2 mg can be deadly ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Fake pills that look like Adderall or Xanax are showing up at parties and just in the everyday world. Theyโ€™re all over โ€” and you never really know whatโ€™s in them.

An Advil from your mom? Fine.
A random pill from a friend? Not worth it. Stay safe, Broncos ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ’ก Fact Friday ๐Ÿ’ก
Did you know fentanyl is 50x stronger than he**in and 100x stronger than morphine? Even the tiniest amount can be deadly.

Stay safe. Stay aware.๐Ÿ’™

Friday night lights โœจ๐Ÿˆ JBFC and board members were at the Broncos game sharing information on the dangers of fentanyl and how to stay safe. ๐Ÿ’™ Thank you to everyone who stopped by โ€” together, we can raise awareness and save lives.

JBF Council Kickoff at the High School ๐ŸŽ‰

The JBFC held its first meeting of the school year yesterday โ€” now entering its second year at the high school โ€” and weโ€™re proud to share that over 20 students have already joined! ๐Ÿ™Œ

These students are stepping up in a big way โ€” saving lives by spreading the word, raising awareness, and leading with courage. ๐Ÿ’™ The council is student-run, giving them the freedom to plan events, design posters, present to students, host call-outs, and launch Instagram โ€œFact Fridaysโ€ (coming soon!).

Hearing this message directly from students matters. Overdose โ€” driven largely by fentanyl โ€” has become one of the leading causes of death for teens and young adults. ๐Ÿ’” When the message comes from students themselves, itโ€™s more powerful than ever.

A big thank-you to these amazing students, with leadership from Wendy Sanchez (teacher at the high school) and Cyndi Burks (Joshโ€™s mom). They also have direct support from JBF board members, standing behind them every step of the way.

Huge thanks to the 7thโ€“8th grade athletes, parents, coaches, and the entire BYF organization. Law spoke to over 100 players, and these young athletes placed JBF stickers on their helmets to stand up for our cause.

It truly means the world to us to have their support. ๐Ÿ’™ Good luck this season, Broncos!
