A Long Swim

A Long Swim A Long Swim uses open water swimming to bring awareness and funding to collaborative ALS research. Visit www.ALongSwim.org for more information.

To date, we have raised over a $1 million dollars—and we're not stopping until we meet an ALS survivor on the shore. The mission of A Long Swim is to raise awareness and funds for collaborative ALS research through open water swimming events. Led by Doug McConnell, A Long Swim is one of the most successful open water charity swims in history. In addition to hosting open water swimming events in an

d around Chicago, the A Long Swim team has conquered theEnglish Channel, the Catalina Channel, the Island of Manhattan, and A one of the world's most difficult open water marathon swims in the world, Hawaii's Ka'iwi Channel. The Ka'iwi Channel, which is Hawaiian for "Channel of Bones" is the 27-mile stretch of ocean between Molokai and Oahu, is known for waves and swells, trade winds and hostile wildlife. A Long Swim has three group open water swims in 2017 with courses mapped out for swims of 1,500 meters, 1.2 miles and 2.4 miles. Professionally timed, these events are perfect for triathletes as well as open water swimmers.

Please congratulate the Ozdinler Lab.
The Ozdinler Lab presented 4 different posters, gave a platform talk, and received the best poster award at the NEALS meeting.
Dr Ozdinler also worked very hard for the establishment of 3 new NEALS sites in Turkey as international members, and they were welcomed this year.

Discussion includes swimming (of course!) as well as the importance of teamwork, appreciating good luck, and the amazing progress being made in ALS research.
