Intimate partner violence impacts people of all genders and those in the q***r community, particularly our trans siblings, are among the most vulnerable to gender-based violence.
Today's teens do not want to grow up to become tomorrow's statistics. If you know teens in the community, share this opportunity with them to explore ways to create a more inclusive, peaceful and beloved community.
HEALTHY MASCULINITY, HEALTHY COMMUNITY
Monday, May 11 at Barrington Public Library
5:50 PM - 7:45 PM
Over the last couple months, Barrington Community Progress Association (BCPA) has worked with a diverse group of teen boys, violence prevention specialists and a range of community members to create a program that will empower teens to prevent intimate partner violence.
HMHC will present topics relating to masculinity, relationships, and the societal expectations that pressure youth and perpetuate a culture that results in domestic and intimate partner violence. The program will include a presentation of ideas, rationale, and definitions; a moderated panel discussion with multiple generations of men/masc folks; and group discussion when youth will have the opportunity to engage with one another in talking through these issues.
*Registration is required*
*Pizza and snacks will be served*
The event is free, designed for teens, and open to people of any gender, age 13+ or older. The small group discussion portion will be limited to the teens in attendance.
This program is made possible by a grant from the Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence (RICADV)βs Deborah DeBare Domestic Violence Prevention Fund.
