Help support our local food pantry! 💚 One way to care for our neighbors and reduce food waste is to regularly go through your pantry to look for items that can be donated. Make it routine— once a week/month/season! It’ll help you make space and catch items before they expire.

🥫❤️ Help Us Stock the Barrington Food Pantry!

This Sunday, volunteers will be outside ShopRite in Lawnside from 8:00am –1:00pm collecting non-perishable food items and gift card donations to support our Borough Food Pantry.

Our pantry helps feed dozens of local families and is also what we use to keep our Little Food Pantry at Deere Field stocked for anyone in our community who may need a little extra help.

If you’re doing your grocery shopping Sunday morning, please consider picking up a few extra non-perishable items or a gift card and dropping them off with our volunteers on your way out. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference!

🏛️ Can’t make it Sunday?
Food and other donations can be dropped off anytime at Barrington Borough Hall inside the double glass sliding doors off the parking lot.

💵 Want to make a monetary donation?
Checks can be made payable to “Borough of Barrington” with “ABLE” written in the memo line and either dropped off or mailed to Borough Hall.

Thank you for continuing to support our food pantry and helping us take care of our neighbors right here in Barrington! ❤️

More helpful info for planting your fall vegetable garden! 🧄🥕
August is New Jersey's second planting season. As spring peas, early beans, garlic and bolted lettuce finish up, the beds they leave behind can carry an entire second harvest of cool-season crops well into October and November.

Right Plant, Right Place is the fundamental gardening principle of selecting plants based on their specific environmental needs—light, soil, water, and space.

Interesting info from South Jersey Land & Water Trust:

Dragonflies vs. Damselflies! 🧐 "Spend some time near a pond, a stream, or any fresh water source in New Jersey and you are bound to be visited by either a dragonfly or a damselfly. With their quick wings and sharp movements it can be hard to see them until they delicately come to rest on a blade of grass or small branch. If you are exceptionally lucky you may even have one rest on you for a few moments.

While they can be a large insect you shouldn't fear them as they are one of the best helps we have in the fight against mosquitoes! As one of the most successful hunters in the animal world, dragonflies should certainly be considered your friend. But did you know that these aerial acrobats actually spend most of their lives underwater, sometimes for years compared to their adult lives of weeks? As a juvenile (nymph) they look very different from their adult counterparts."
