If you’re a Vermont Freemason – or looking at the possibility of becoming one – we hope you’ll find our little corner of cyber-space to be of value. Freemasonry’s roots go back over 300 years and although our Grand Lodge here in Vermont has existed only since 1794, we’ve been a force for good in a great many individual lives and have achieved a long history of positive community involvement during

these past 215+ years. From our superb snowy winters to our gorgeous spring blooms; from our unbeatable summers which make this a place to be for so many during their vacations on through our spectacular fall foliage, Vermont is a truly wonderful lifestyle – and when we blend Freemasonry with it, it’s absolutely unmatchable. For our members: we are continuously striving to keep this site vibrant and valuable for you. If there’s something you’d like us to have here, just drop a note to the Webmaster and we’ll see if we can make it happen. We’re embarking on a program to provide a ‘one-stop’ resource for all your needs. If you’re not a Mason, we’ve got lots of good stuff about Freemasonry for you here also. If you’re just moving here and want to become involved with your community or if you’ve been here ‘forever’ but somehow just never managed to get involved, now is the time. Freemasonry is many things: a place for personal development, an active supporter of charitable programs, and so much more. It is unlike any other club or program you’ll ever encounter combining the richness of historical ritual with the firm and steadfast friendship which brings us together as ‘Brothers’ in thought, word and deed. It is difficult to describe but amazingly easy to enjoy. We welcome you to browse our site to learn more. Freemasonry doesn’t solicit membership so it’s up to you to initiate the process. Click here to get more detailed information on how to petition and become a part of the greatness that is Freemasonry! Freemasonry is the world's oldest and largest fraternity. It is founded on the tenets of Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth. Its members are encouraged to practice Temperance, Fortitude, Justice and Charity. We come from all walks of life and are actively involved in our communities. Freemasonry is, indeed, a 'way of life'. Does this appeal to you? 231st Anniversary of the founding of The Grand Lodge of Vermont

On October 10, 1794, fourteen representatives from five different lodges within the three-year-old State of Vermont met in Rutland to convene a constitutional convention for the formation of the Grand Lodge of Freemasons of the State of Vermont.

Over the following days, these representatives developed the framework for governance, culminating in the adoption of the Grand Lodge Constitution on October 15, 1794, and the first annual communication of the Grand Lodge held that same day.

On this day, as we commemorate that historic event, let us all reflect on the tenets of Freemasonry in Vermont — Relief, Truth, and Brotherly Love.

With the highest fraternal regards,

Bro∴ William Karstens, IV, Most Worshipful Grand Master

Please Join The Grand Master and Grand Lodge of Vermont in marking this historic event.

Brethren:

As part of the celebration of the 200th anniversary of Lafayette's visit to America, the Grand Lodge of Vermont will be performing a reenactment of the Cornerstone Ceremony at the Old Mill building on UVM campus, June 29, 2025; a ceremony which Lafayette himself performed during his time in Vermont. This will be the culmination of a multistate effort to commemorate the events of his visit. The "reenactor" will be traveling up through Vermont for two days, June 28-29. The below brochure should give you a sense of the scale of the yearlong project and an approximate schedule of events. Our ceremony, which is scheduled for about 2:15 pm, will be a wonderful way to highlight our fraternity in a public event. I invite you to join us if you can.

Fraternally,

William Karstens, IV
Most Worshipful Grand Master,
