🌲 It's PalmettoPride Tree Grant season! 🌲

Open to municipalities, enforcement agencies, HOAs, and nonprofit organizations, eligible applicants can apply for tree grants to beautify public spaces across South Carolina 🏡

In a unique partnership, PalmettoPride awards grant recipients with saplings that were propagated by horticulture crews within the South Carolina Department of Corrections 🤝🌱

To date, approximately 30,000 trees have been planted through the program, sequestering more than 5️⃣ million pounds of carbon 〰️ Learn more at www.palmettopride.org.

Like-minded individuals created CALHOL Community Development Strategies to tackle issues facing our rural towns. It is essential to recognize that the well-being and prosperity of our communities are deeply interconnected. We are reflections of one another, and by working together, we can create vibrant, walkable towns that promote connectivity.

Transforming our towns into pedestrian-friendly communities will create numerous economic and social benefits. When people can walk to shops, restaurants, and services, they are more likely to support local businesses, thus boosting our local economies. Furthermore, our goal is to attract visitors and tourists, who will bring additional revenue and contribute to the vitality of our rural towns.

Connectivity is not just about physical infrastructure; it's about fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose among our communities. By prioritizing walkable towns, we create spaces where people from different backgrounds and walks of life can come together, share experiences, and build relationships. This interconnectedness makes our towns stronger and more vibrant.

As neighboring rural towns, we must recognize that our successes and challenges are intertwined. When one community thrives, it sets a positive example and creates opportunities for others. By collaborating on initiatives to create walkable towns, we can share resources, knowledge, and best practices, ensuring that all our towns benefit.

Together we can celebrate and learn from each other's successes, understanding that our collective efforts will create a stronger, more connected region that reflects the best of who we are.
