Please take a moment to watch this video and see what we are doing over at the Bridge Center. Two weeks ago, this amazing group of students graduated, and we are actively helping people get to work and move toward a meaningful path filled with purpose and independence. Thank you again to our amazing teachers some of the best carpenters on cape cod!

We have a new cohort starting next week, and we need all the support we can get. If you feel called in your heart to help people rebuild their lives and gain independence and purpose, please consider supporting our Toolbelt Campaign or helping in other ways.

We are currently looking for volunteers and have openings for:

* 2 Carpentry Volunteers
* 1 Administrative / Social Media Volunteer to help support our mission

If you feel called to be part of the mission, please contact me at:

Thank you all for your continued support. It truly means a lot.

I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who has supported and helped make this amazing project possible.

Two weeks ago, at the graduation ceremony, I was extremely emotional and overwhelmed by the fact that we had accomplished the first graduating class of Skilled Purpose. I didn’t get the chance to properly express my gratitude to everyone involved.

Our six carpentry instructors are some of the most talented people and incredible teachers I know. They came to class twice a week after work and taught at night to people in recovery and those transitioning from incarceration. To say I am amazed by them is an understatement.

I also want to thank Joe Thorpe and Jill Kostka for their outstanding help with the office and the structure of the organization—from case management all the way down to daily operations. I couldn’t do it without you both.

Thank you as well to Marc Goldberg and Bill Dermody for your guidance and support.

Most importantly, I want to acknowledge my amazing wife and best friend, Angie English. None of this would have been possible without her constant support and love. She has been my foundation through everything.

And thank you to my wonderful children for always inspiring me to be the best person I can be.

I just wanted to say thank you for everything you all do. Without you, Skilled Purpose would not exist. I am eternally grateful.

The future of this organization is extremely bright, and we will continue to grow, improve, and impact people’s lives.

Best,Vincent English

Skilled Purpose classmates have completed their 12-week carpentry course and are now working to spruce up the Barnstable County Sheriff's Office's Bridge Center.

The Michael English House's Skilled Purpose teaches building trades to incarcerated individuals and community members in recovery from substance use disorder. The partnership between the Barnstable County Sheriff's Office and Skilled Purpose benefits everyone -- students learn a lucrative skill, the community gets healthy and productive members of the workforce, and The Bridge Center (circa 1935) gets a little TLC.

Thank you to all the volunteers for creating this program, supporting and educating students. We are bridging gaps in the reentry pathway.
