Yaakov Talker grew up in a small, warm home in Israel.
His dad earned the only salary, and his mom had health problems. At home, food always came first.
"When you're a kid and a box suddenly shows up at home, you don't think much of it. You see chocolate. But suddenly, Mom can breathe."
Yaakov grew up and served as a Namer APC driver in the Golani reconnaissance unit. With his first paycheck, he bought air conditioners for his parents' house.
On July 22, 2025, in Deir al-Balah, an RPG hit his vehicle. He woke up 24 hours later, lifted the blanket, and saw that doctors had saved his leg. Weeks later, he married his fiancée in the courtyard of Soroka Hospital.
Today Yaakov is 29 and in rehabilitation at Beit Loewenstein. He has one thing to say to the people who once filled that box: thank you.
"I never went to bed hungry."
Your gift fills a box today. One day, it could help raise a Yaakov.
