The Barnstable Professional Firefighters Local 3276 is the unionized members of the Barnstable Fire Department. It is made up of the 22 suppression staff members of the department and is heavily involved in the community in fundraising, donations of money, time and items. The participation, views and support of the union does not reflect the support, endorsement or views of the Barnstable Fire Department. Fundraising for Local 3276 is based on members union dues, annual raffles, fundraising events and most importantly generous donations throughout the year. The local gives back to the community in several ways including annual monetary donations to:

Muscular Dystrophy
Barnstable Village Holiday Stroll Chili booth
Annual donation to Pan Mass
P-Town Run to the Top- Cape Cod Firefighter and EMS Cancer Relief Fund

West Barnstable Fire Department Responds to Structure Fire on Hollyhock Drive

On September 27, 2026, the West Barnstable Fire Department was alerted to a possible structure fire at 4 Hollyhock Drive in West Barnstable. A first alarm assignment brought a West Barnstable engine, tanker, and two chief officers to the scene, along with an engine from COMM Fire, a ladder truck and chief officer from Barnstable Fire, an engine from Sandwich Fire, and a tanker from Joint Base Cape Cod. An engine from Cotuit Fire also responded to the scene, while a Hyannis Fire engine covered the West Barnstable station.

Crews extinguished fire in the basement and first floor and conducted overhaul operations. The fire was brought under control at 11:22 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the West Barnstable Fire Department, the Massachusetts State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office.

No injuries to civilians or fire personnel were reported. The West Barnstable Fire Department thanks its mutual aid partners for their assistance.

The Barnstable Fire Department likes to recognize our members during the month of their anniversary with our department. This time its not a firefighter or officer we are recognizing. Today is Karen Hickey's anniversary with the Barnstable Fire Department. Karen works as our Confidential Executive Assistant to the Fire Chief. She has been with us for the last 12 years and we look forward to many more. It is an understatement to say that Karen is what makes this fire department better. Thank you Karen for all you do for us everyday.
