The Garden Club of Hyannis is proud to announce the outstanding Cape Cod students who received scholarships and the teacher and his student that received a mini grant.

Justin Solgovic from Cape Cod Technical High School, Olivia Arseneault from Falmouth High School, Allyson Webb from Upper Cape Cod Technical High School, Megan Garthee from Barnstable High School and Colin Gleason from Barnstable High School. Next are Mason Allison and Dr. Robert Albis from Barnstable High School, who received the mini teacher grant and Mr. Joe Katchpole who presents a scholarship each year in memory of his wife, Elizabeth, who was a wonderful member of the garden club who passed away!

WOW WHAT A MONTH OF MAY WE HAD!!!
A tea for new members, 2027 Holiday Showcase Meeting, presented scholarships to 5 deserving Cape Cod students, a teacher grant, and spruced up the Hyannis Public Library. Every spring at our May meeting our garden club presents scholarships to Cape Cod students, tool-ships to budding entrepreneurs who are pursuing a career in the fields of horticulture, agriculture, environmental, landscaping or an applicable field. Mini teacher grants, who have developed programs or will develop programs for their students, are also presented. These teacher programs should be in the areas of environmental fields of study which include horticulture, conservation, botany, forestry, landscape design or a related field. Not only did all this happen at our May meeting, but members displayed functional and exhibition table designs which were exquisite! Come join a fun and inspirational garden club!! See our website for more information!

The Garden Club of Hyannis hosted a delightful tea gathering at President Betty Logan's home to welcome new members. The occasion was filled with warmth and friendship. At the April meeting of our garden club, President Betty Logan welcomed GCFM President, Susie MacPherson, Southeast District Director, Judy Morgan, a number of Presidents of Southeast Garden Clubs, as well as Past Presidents of the Garden Club of Hyannis. A lovely luncheon was served by the Hospitality Committee. It was so much fun to have our members meet these hard working women!!!

Our April meeting of the Garden Club was a wonderful meeting by Trevor Smith. He is an award winning regenerative landscape designer and the founder of ReEarth Solutions. His passion for the natural world inspires his commitment to sustainable landscaping practices in this era of climate change. He talked about the why, what, and how of native planting in our gardens , yards, and lawns. What an interesting meeting!!

Anne Marie and Lynette offered their Spatial Thrust workshop, where students learned to make magic happen between 2 parallel lines of like material. They also got instruction on plant selections, design aids and containers, plus the principles of floral design. Nancy presented a beautiful classic table setting, critiqued by Gail, Diane and the students. And let's just say, the students' designs were totally gorgeous.
