THE NEW REPORTS ARE OUT! I’ve said it before and I will say it again… Opioid settlement funds are not low-hanging fruit, a new revenue stream for police departments, or a way to backfill existing budgets.

These dollars exist because people died. Every dollar represents someone’s child, parent, sibling, partner, friend or neighbor.

When agencies use these funds to replace existing funding or support programs that do not address opioid-related harm, we must demand answers:

Who approved it? Where did the money go? What did it replace? Who benefited—and who lost access to treatment, harm reduction, recovery support, housing, outreach or prevention?

Accountability must include both those who receive the money and those who decide how it is spent.

Follow the money. Expose supplantation. Demand transparency and accountability.

These funds should repair harm - not become another budgetary piggy bank.

We are watching. 👀

A huge thank you to everyone who came out last Saturday for Sea Change’s 5th Annual 100 Waves for Recovery & Overdose Awareness event. 🌊💙

Thank you to every person who paddled out, shared a story, honored a loved one, supported someone in recovery, and stood with us to remember those we’ve lost.

Five years of 100 Waves is a powerful reminder of what happens when a community comes together with compassion, courage, and hope. Every wave represents a life, a story, a family, and the possibility of recovery.

Thank you for showing up, speaking out, and helping us keep the conversation going. Together, we can break the stigma, support harm reduction, recovery, and prevent overdose deaths.

Here’s to another year of hope, healing, and 100 more waves. 🌊💙
