Forever Home Canine Rescue

Forever Home Canine Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all-volunteer rescue organization for unwanted and homeless dogs.

Forever Home Canine Rescue’s base is in Iredell, Catawba, and surrounding counties of North Carolina. We rescue dogs from unfortunate situations such as abandoned, neglected, or surrendered by their owners...many who find themselves homeless at County Animal Control Shelters. Through the use of our Foster Home Program we can then place them in their forever homes.

Remember sweet little Teddy? 🎄🐾

Teddy got his Christmas wish this year—a family of his very own!
He now has an older feline brother, Herro, to pal around with…or maybe lovingly torment. Here’s a photo from Adoption Day with his new mom, Maria. Teddy also has a human sister and brother who adore cuddle time with him.

We are so incredibly grateful to Maria and her family for opening their hearts and home to this very special little boy. Stories like Teddy’s are what make this work so rewarding.

This past year, FHCR has been blessed to find wonderful homes for the dogs—and even one little feline—in our care. When we say it takes a village, we truly mean it! 💙 Our foster families and generous donors make everything we do possible, and we are so grateful for each of you.

We especially love receiving updates on our alums. Recently, Snickers’ mom sent us this video of him in his new role at Charlotte Christian School! With her support, Snickers became a certified middle school pet therapy dog—and he’s taking his job very seriously. 🐾 He’s even become a bit of a social media celebrity!

Stories like Snickers’ remind us why we do this work. Thank you for being part of our village.

Meet Luna... our newest little pup needing her forever home. She's probably a Schnoodle, 8-lbs. of love and playful puppy energy, born around Valentine's Day. Cali, our youngest pupper, has found her forever home! Her new family adores her and has really enjoyed watching this little girl grow. Cali is definitely a member of the family and is included in all their adventures! Allison (her mom) says Cali loves her twice-daily walks and has really enjoyed the pool this past summer. (While she was with her foster mom, Dinah, we all learned just how much Cali loves the water!) Cali just started obedience training, and Allison says she is doing so well. We are very grateful for Mark, Allison, Annie, and Jay for giving Cali a wonderful life as a member of their family! Happy Tails, Cali!

Gracie, our little rescue from Cabarrus Animal Shelter, wormed her way into her foster mom's heart and made Dinah a foster fail! But if anyone could see the way Gracie looks at Dinah, you would know it was love at first sight! Sometimes it's just meant to be... right? Gracie also has a canine big sister, Ruby. Ruby is teaching her all about "porch duty" and the importance of it. So now Ruby and Gracie enjoy lying on the porch and barking at any movement they spot in the driveway or back yard! Dinah, thank you for loving this little girl and for giving her a wonderful home!

Bruno, our French Bulldog pup, has been adopted! He now has a 4-year-old Frenchie brother... they have become best buddies, and love to run and play in their large fenced-in backyard. We feel certain that Bruno will have a wonderful life with his new family... a true 'happily-ever-after'!

Levi hit the jackpot with his new family! Our little 14-year-old Doxie who had to have extensive dental surgery is now in his forever home... a home with guardians who work from home, a couple of canine buddies, a fenced yard, and all the TLC he deserves. Many thanks to Lisa and Mark for making Levi's 'happily-ever-after' possible!

Pretzel has found his forever home! His new guardians say that he is so happy, has so much energy and acts like a puppy... not a 12-year-old Doxie. We can't thank Pretzel's new family enough for giving him the life he so deserves... a life filled with with love , all the toys he can demolish, long walks, and adventures. We're sure his last years will be his very best!

Update on Levi...
Levi has been doing fairly well since his surgery. He ended up losing many teeth (counted about 32) and also had a growth removed from his chest. Pain meds are keeping him comfortable, and he is really enjoying eating his soft food, rather than his regular kibble. He has another appointment in a couple of weeks to make sure he has healed well, and then he will be available to go to his forever home...

Many thanks to everyone for your prayers... they helped Levi come through without complications! To those of you who contributed to his medical care, we can't thank you enough! Without our friends and supporters we wouldn't be able to give our little orphans to medical care they need to begin to live a healthy and happy life!

LEVI CAN USE YOUR PRAYERS!

Levi's feeling pretty chipper tonight, but won't feel the same this time tomorrow! Tomorrow he'll be getting his dental, and the vet said that most of his teeth will have to be removed. On top of that, he has a grade IV heart murmur, which makes the surgery more dangerous for him. Because this surgery is so involved and more risky than most dentals, we have opted to have it done at Animal Hospital of Statesville. They are the best around, so he has the best chance with them. Unfortunately, this comes at quite a price... they said a surgery this involved generally runs between $1,800 and $2000. We were not expecting this when we rescued this little guy, but so very glad we did, whatever the cost. The important thing is that Levi gets the help he needs to be able to live out the rest of his life... healthy and happy.

We hate asking for help, but we really can use some help in covering Levi's medical costs for his surgery. Any donation, big or small is appreciated!

Here's Bruno... a 10-month-old French Bulldog who is needing a new home because of his previous family's health issues. Bruno is all-puppy... very playful, and as sweet as can be. We are looking for an active home for Bruno with a fenced yard, and hopefully another young canine playmate.

Please 'share' this little guy to help him find the perfect forever home, or even a foster home in our area.

Meet our latest senior Doxie, Levi! This portly little man is 14-years-old and has been relegated to living outside for over a year, and hasn't been to a vet for at least 5 years. Even with this neglect, he's a happy and wonderful little guy, and still remembers his house manners. We're so happy to be able to change the course of his life and make sure his last years will be his best ever!

He will be starting his vetting tomorrow, and we know it is going to be costly. It is obvious that he has never had any dental work... probably has the worst breath ever! After his exam, testing, vaccinations and bloodwork we will get him the dental he so badly needs. We're not yet sure what the final total for his vetting will be, but if anyone would like to donate towards his care it will be much appreciated... even a $5 or $10 donation will help.
