Bardstown Professional Fire Fighters- IAFF Local 5095 Always on the frontline. The union was created because the best people to understand the day to day issues affecting the fire fighters are other fire fighters.

By fire fighters, for fire fighters.

• The International Association of Fire Fighters was created by fire fighters to represent themselves on the job whether it is working in the stations and on the fireground. Often times, management and their civilian counterparts are too removed to understand what is most important.

• The IAFF has served as the fire fighters union since 1918. Union: A grou

p of people gathered together for a common purpose.

• The purpose of the local is to take care of our own, on the job and off.
• When you serve the public and put your life on the line you need someone behind you. The IAFF will be there. These aren’t just words. In the fire service, actions speak louder than words. We define who we are as a union by what we do.

• The IAFF is about us: professional fire fighters taking care of each other. Who we are

• The Bardstown Professional Fire Fighters Association Local 5095 is a membership driven organization. IAFF History

• In 1918, the IAFF was founded as part of the AFL and has gone on to be a positive force in fire fighter’s increased wages, reduced hours, improved safety, and overall well being.

• For over eight decades, the IAFF has been there for our members and continues to be a driving force in advancements within the fire service.

• It’s the IAFF that introduced the first safety standards in 1980 and today is designing state of the art gear for 21st fire fighters. It was the IAFF who urged President Ford to sign the Public Safety Officer Benefit Act, which provides money to families of fire fighters who died in the line of duty. When hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma hit the Gulf coast region in 2005 it was the IAFF who rushed to assist IAFF locals and their families.

Thank you to Dan Strange and his crew at Dollar General Market. Without their donations of the food and drink that we gave out today, none of this would have been possible. As we cooked and mingled, he and his crew were running back and fourth to keep us from running out of everything. Thank you and we hope to work with you guys again in the future.

Also the guys and gals from the T-Mobile store off of Culpepper St who came out and gave away free goodies.

Last but not least, we really couldn’t have done any of this without the turnout from you, the public. It’s an honor for us to serve you. We don’t know exactly how many people we met today but we do know we went through hundreds of hamburgers and hot dogs.
