Nelson County Conservation District The Nelson County Conservation District was founded in 1946 to protect, enhance and educate the public about the natural resources of our county.

The Conservation District was founded in 1946 after the Dust Bowl to educate the public about the importance of our natural resources and soil conservation. The District is governed by a 7 member Board of Supervisors that are elected by voters within Nelson County. We also partner with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, Farm Service Agency and Kentucky Fish and Wildlife to help carry out our conservation programs.
