Help support Barktown Rescue in their effort to rescue, foster, and provide medical treatment to dogs abandoned, unwanted, and in need of human companion. Our mission here at Barktown Rescue is to find a loving home for all pets in need. We look forward to the day when there is a home for every pet. If you are looking for a pet, please check out our friends ready for their forever home. Barktown R
escue has completed many of the renovations to the old Boston School building and grounds, making it a suitable shelter facility for the alarming number of abandoned, stray and surrendered animals rescued each day in and around Bardstown, Nelson and Hardin Counties. Because of individual donations from you and other wonderful supporters we have been able to install an outside fence, making a secure play area for our Barktown residents to run and play at least three times a day. Barktown Rescue is now offering boarding and grooming to the public. We have appointments available for grooming and you can call to schedule at 502-833-BARK. We can also take reservations at that number for boarding. These are just two of the way we help to provide the financial support so needed to care for over 80 dogs and cats presently under our care. Founded in 2009, Barktown Rescue has placed over 1,600 dogs and puppies into loving homes. Their largest expense is the vet care for the animals that are rescued. Pets cannot be adopted until they are spayed or neutered, and often additional vet expenses are incurred for sick or injured animals. In the spirit of Bob Barker and Drew Carey’s pleas “to help control the pet population”, Barktown also encourages pet owners to have their pets spayed or neutered. Taking efforts one step further, Barktown Rescue has helped provide funds for pet owners who cannot afford to alter their pets. Low cost spay and neutering clinics are something we hope to offer in the future at Barktown. Barktown Rescue is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organizations. Therefore, monetary donations and fair market value of items donated to our events or our shelter are tax deductible.
