"Red Rose on the Beach" — why this song exists, and a pledge.
Years ago, I had a dear friend named Andrea, a dedicated social worker approaching retirement after a beautiful career of service to others. After I was displaced by technological disruption in the printing industry, I threw myself into building a new career — and while I was focused on climbing a new ladder, Andrea became ill with cancer and passed away before our friendship had the opportunity to become something more.
Years later, when I saw a red rose resting on a beach at sunrise, I took it as a sign. To me, it felt like Andrea looking down from heaven and saying, "I love you."
Today, after undergoing a hip replacement and surviving quadruple bypass surgery, I find myself reflecting on what truly matters in life. Health, love, family, friendship, and the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of others have become far more important than professional accomplishments.
Some critics dismiss AI-generated art as "AI slop." My experience has been very different. Artificial intelligence helped me transform a deeply personal memory into a song that explores love, loss, gratitude, and the importance of appreciating the people around us while we still can. While AI assisted in the creation process, the story and emotions behind the song are profoundly human.
Beginning tomorrow, October 16, 2026, and continuing through March 16, 2027, I am donating 100% of net proceeds received by Covenantal Media AI PBC from the country version of "Red Rose on the Beach" to the American Heart Association.
