Tuesday night brought some big wins for OKH!

•Payton Coomes, Prepared Public Speaking STATE CHAMP🏆

•Brooklynn Shouse took the house down with cover of Landslide. She was selected for top four! Her placing will be announced tonight.

•OKH FFA selected as a Gold Emblem Chapter for the 5th year in a row!

•Discussion Meet, 2nd in the State🥈

•Aubree Jackson, Essay Contest, 2nd in the State🥈

•Our own Ji McKay received a special shout from the state officer team during opening session as well.

•Our Agriscience students were up bright and early for their interviews this morning, and will find out their placings at 1:00PM! Ending convention with a bang💥

Tuesday morning brought on more fun at State FFA Convention! Our talent contestant, Brooklynn Shouse, advanced to the top eight and will perform tonight for Kentucky FFA’s Got Talent🎤

Adalyn Filiatreau and Harper Rust represented us for the USA 250 Celebration packing bags for the Thompson Hood Veterans Center🇺🇸

Wade Greenwell, Logan Mattingly, Addilynn Howard and Adrian Morris helped volunteering with Courtesy Corps!💙💛

We also enjoyed fellowship at LexLive with Bloomfield FFA! Bowling, Pizza and way too many arcade tickets!🎟️

More exciting results to come later today as we continue into Agriscience presentations tomorrow!

We have had a busy first day at State FFA Convention!

•Payton Coomes advanced to the top four in Extemporaneous Speaking. We will find out her official placing tomorrow at session!🏅

•Adalyn Filiatreau represented us for Prepared Public Speaking with her speech on farmers markets and the power of local food systems🏅

•Opening and Closing Ceremonies🏅
Griffin Rush, Kyleigh Cecil, Harper Rust, Jase Brewer, Hunter Noe, and Cole Bringhurst.

•Quizbowl 🏅
Arria Newton, Brody Willett, Wilder Mousty, and Sadie-Rae Marksbury.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Chapter FFA Banquet last Friday! 🙌 We celebrated with nearly 200 of our closest friends and supporters to end a fantastic year. The evening was filled with lots of laughter, hard-earned recognition, and some very fond “see ya later!” moments. We are so grateful. Here's to the next chapter!

🐴 Ms. Baskin’s Intro to Ag students are wrapping up the semester by learning about horses in honor of the KY Derby last weekend.

Today we were given the opportunity to tour Spy Coast horse farm. We first visited their rehabilitation center, where horses are put through therapies such as red light, vibration plates, and water treadmills.

We then got to see the training arenas and barns where we saw horses being groomed, tacked up, and untacked.

Lastly, we got to meet the stallions, pregnant mares, and newborn foals. The horses were so friendly to our kids and were so happy to get all the love and pets!

We learned so much about each aspect… including that these horses live more luxuriously than we do!! We already can’t wait to come back! 🐴

We had a great day at UK Field Day sharpening some of our skills for state contest! Before leaving we learned Graham Berry and Jase were 2nd in their middle school division!

•Jr. Livestock Judging: Gavin Jury, Piper Ballard, Adalyn Filiatreau, Harper Rust.

•Agriscience Fair Division 1: Ethan Newton

We had to leave before all awards finished but a great day!
