Pine Mountain Grotto, Inc.

Pine Mountain Grotto, Inc. PMG is a chapter of the National Speleological Society. We teach new cavers and offer programs on caves, bats and the cave environment.

Members enjoy exploring and surveying new caves, doing cleanups, cave photography/videography, and recreational caving. Pine Mountain Grotto, Inc. (PMG) was founded in 1992 as a southeastern Kentucky chapter of the National Speleological Society, the world's largest organization dedicated to the study, exploration and preservation of caves. PMG members support and participate in these activities a

nd in the fellowship that makes the caving community unique. Accordingly, we invite all who share an interest in caves and a willingness to abide by basic standards of safety and conservation to join us.

We had a great beginner caving trip this past Saturday led by Steve Vaughn, Jim “O Yellow Hat” West and Thor Bahrman. Three new cavers joined us underground and exhibited good individual skills as well as good teamwork. Notice the snake in one of the photos. It was packed up and released outside by new caver, Evelyn, after we finished the trip.

The return of the Dirty Bastards! Andy, Steve and Thor started a new survey on Saturday. Sadly, selfish and foolish people have left trash and graffiti in this beautiful cave.

For some reason, we had brief and intermittent Bluetooth connectivity issues between our BRIC4 and tablet, though it didn’t really slow things down.
