Pine Mountain Grotto, Inc.

Pine Mountain Grotto, Inc. PMG is a chapter of the National Speleological Society. We teach new cavers and offer programs on caves, bats and the cave environment.

Members enjoy exploring and surveying new caves, doing cleanups, cave photography/videography, and recreational caving. Pine Mountain Grotto, Inc. (PMG) was founded in 1992 as a southeastern Kentucky chapter of the National Speleological Society, the world's largest organization dedicated to the study, exploration and preservation of caves. PMG members support and participate in these activities a

nd in the fellowship that makes the caving community unique. Accordingly, we invite all who share an interest in caves and a willingness to abide by basic standards of safety and conservation to join us.

We had an SRT practice session for two of our new members. They learned safety and vertical access methods they’ll use underground when descending and ascending, as well as how each piece of gear operates and should be used. Both did great!
