Baraga County YAC The Youth Advisory Committee, aka YAC, of the Baraga County Community Foundation are cutting edge Youth Leaders pioneering in social change.

Youth advisory committee members will learn to demonstrate:
• Leadership potential –
To gain respect and trust of his or her peer group, show empathy for others, be willing to listen to and be considerate of other’s input, and be willing to share opinions with others.
• Tenacity—
The ability to make a commitment to a goal and follow through with tasks associated with that goal.
• Availability—
B

e available to commit to this type of philanthropic service.
• Community service—
Have concern for the needs of the community.
• Openness & Ability to work with Adults—
He or she has exhibited a willingness to respond to adult mentoring efforts.
• Potential for personal growth-
You may be at a turning point in your development, and you can use this experience as a springboard toward a new self-concept. At-risk youth at times are most aware of the needs of county youth and have the most to gain from participating in this type of community service.

Congrats on our Members new Titles!!
Karistina Magnant is our new President! She is a cheerleader, a very crafty person and an amazing friend. She always turns life into fun.
Exandrea Paquette is our new Vice President. She is a musician, artist, and very kind hearted. She is very shy though but that doesn't stop her from standing up for others when needed.
Rae Jacobs became an Adult Advisor after having being President. They are a crafty person, love to listen to music. They also aspire to be a teacher with the qualities of being emotionally strong, intelligent and kind.
Not only do we have new titles for some members. But we also wanna recongize our older members, Gordette Leutz and Mary Paquette. ones who have been there for ups and downs. helping the Youth Advisory Committee strive and be the best it can be.

Don't Forget!
The Denise Marth Fun Run is taking place this Saturday, May 10th at the L'Anse Waterfront, for the Health of it!
The 5K starts at 10:00 a.m. BUT you do not have to go that far, and you can go farther! You can walk, roll, bike, or stroll!

The Youth Advisory Committee was able to connect with George Eshleman, reuniting former YAC members and new members. George drove up from Georgia to meet with the YAC again, for the screening of his movie "The Keeper", a film to bring awareness to Veterans suicides and hope to Veterans and others. A program that the YAC had been working on in 2017 when we met George. Thank you George!

You never really know the true impact you have on those around you. You never know how much someone needed that smile you
gave them. You never know how much your kindness turned someone's entire life around. You never know how much someone needed that long hug or deep talk.
So don't wait to be kind. Don't wait for someone else to be kind first. Don't wait for better circumstances or for someone to change. Just be kind, because you never know how much someone needs it.
