Dangerous cold still expected to settle in Friday night and sticking around for the weekend. Overnight lows will be below zero with daytime highs on either side of 0°. Enough wind will be present to keep wind chill values sub-zero all weekend. At points, wind chills could be as cold as -20° to -40°.
Be prepared for the cold!
The track of a winter storm continues to shift northwards. Expect snow to arrive beginning Sunday evening lasting into Monday. Still too early to make a call on snowfall, but as of now highest potential of 6"+ looks to be along the coast and in southern Maine. Keep in mind, it will still be cold. This will result in a big "fluff" factor!

Starting Friday, Feb. 3, a weather system will be moving through our region which will result in extreme cold and wind chill conditions.

The City of Bangor worked with all agencies to compile a comprehensive list of locations, as well as to mitigate any barriers to serve the needs of both the operators and individuals in need. City staff will be in our community throughout the weekend to ensure anyone and everyone is safe during this extreme weather.

Should the need arise, Bangor Parks and Recreation, 647 Main Street, will be ready to open as a potential pop-up warming center. Notice of times and other relevant information will be made available through media outlets and social media to reflect hours and contact information, as well as direct notification to Police and others as needed.

There will be a Downtown Parking Ban in effect starting at 11:00 pm Sunday, January 29, 2023, through 6:00 am Friday, February 3, 2023, to allow for road treatment and removal operations.

During a parking ban, vehicles may not be parked on city streets in the Downtown Parking Management District between the hours of 11:00 pm and 6:00 am. Vehicles left on the street during a parking ban may be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense.

The Odd/Even Parking Rule for daytime parking will also be in effect between the hours of 6:00 am and 12:00 midnight, through 3/31/2023. If a street outside the Downtown Parking Management District is not already regulated by parking signage, parking will be allowed on the even side of the street on even calendar days and on the odd side of the street on odd calendar days. It's easy to remember because the even side of the street has even house numbers and the odd side of the street has odd house numbers. Vehicles parked on the wrong side of the street or contrary to parking signage may be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense.
