Maine Science Festival MAINE SCIENCE FESTIVAL: LIKE AN ARTS OR MUSIC FESTIVAL - BUT SCIENCE! Join us at the MSF and listen to the Maine Science Podcast.

The Maine Science Festival (MSF) showcases the science (and technology) happening in Maine, using the format and structure of an arts or music festival, and targets the general public with events for all ages. Using forums, workshops, talks, art exhibits, film screenings, and hands-on activities, we produce events that focus on the science happening and being used in Maine. We bring Maine science

to the public.

Some additional information:
The Maine Science Festival (MSF) is an independently funded program of the Maine Discovery Museum, and is the first and only science festival in Maine. The MSF launched in 2015 and is a celebration of the national and world leading science by the Mainers who do it. At our five day March festival we host more than 70 + activities and events throughout Downtown Bangor and at the Cross Insurance Center, showcasing the remarkable work happening in Maine daily. With forums, shows, talks, art exhibits, trivia nights, and an array of workshops and hands-on activities, we bring Maine science to the public. Since our inaugural festival in 2015, more than 50,000 people have joined us to celebrate Maine science, and we are proud to highlight not only the remarkable work happening everyday throughout Maine, but the remarkable people who make it happen. In addition to the festival, we also produce the Maine Science Podcast: conversations with some of the Mainers who do and use science in Maine. You’ll find out what we know: Maine scientists and engineers are among the best in the country and the world, and that science is everywhere!

Tonight is the big night! 🎉 In a region surrounded by so many outstanding nonprofits doing truly important work, we are beyond honored to be chosen for this award by the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce. We look forward to celebrating with our fellow award winners and this incredible community we are proud to call home. It is such an honor to live and work here every day, supporting each other along the way.

For everyone at home, we’ve got something pretty cool happening tonight as well. The 207 crew did a piece on the Maine Science Festival this year, and while we’ve all DVR’d it to watch when we get home, we would love for you to tune in to WLBZ at 7pm tonight to see it!

We must be doing something right when we are too busy receiving awards to even watch our own feature. 😉💜

Wow, what an amazing week we had at the 2026 Maine Science Festival. To everyone who joined us at one of our many events, thank you. To the presenters who shared their inspiring science, thank you, and to our incredible team and volunteers who made it all happen, we are so grateful.

We truly could not have done any of this without our sponsors. Some have been with us for years, others joined us for the first time this year, and all are equally important to our mission of keeping science accessible to everyone by offering all five days free of charge.

We had an amazing time showcasing the important innovation and research happening right here in Maine, and inspiring the next generation of thinkers, scientists, and creators!
