Greater Bangor Area Street Pastors

The temp was predicted to still be high after patrol started last night, so instead of trying to haul ourselves around on foot with heavy gear and hot uniforms, we picked to stock a couple coolers with ice and water in the afternoon, then drive out together and stop where we usually meet some groups of folks staying outside to offer icy cold water, tootsie pops, and snacks.

It was a good night of fellowship with the team, and people were pretty happy to have a cold drink as they got ready for the night ahead.

Ellie was a bit confused to hop in the car instead of walking up the hill, but she decided it was a pretty good patrol even though the huminz were being weird. She did her usual greeting work in the park and 2 people thanked us for bringing her to brighten their day.

Volunteers with the Greater Bangor Street Pastors spend Fridays conversing with homeless people around Bangor. It is one of several faith-based groups working on the issue as the city looks to develop a long-term plan.

so I missed the boat on getting this information out in a timely manner... but our friends at Needlepoint organized a cleanup around downtown. Next year i'll try to pay better attention and make sure we get the info out so that we can help pitch in to get this city looking a bit more tidy after the winter blahs left so many layers of trash behind!
