Starting this Saturday, April 18th, we’ll be holding our monthly Trail Days on the Kenduskeag Stream! Join us in keeping the Kenduskeag beautiful.
Meet at 262 Harlow St. in Bangor from 8-9:30am every 3rd Saturday of the month through November.

This past year, we made a big push to control invasive species on the Kenduskeag Stream Trail.

We completed an Invasive Plant Control Practice Plan which documented the type, density, and location of invasive species along the trail, hired a licensed professional to begin treatment, and planted nearly 200 native trees and shrubs to restore native habitat in treated areas.

There's a statewide campaign underway recognizing this week as Invasive Species Awareness Week. Invasive species threaten human health, native plants, fish, wildlife and agricultural systems because there are no checks and balances on their growth.

The City of Bangor and the state Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry encourage people to take practical steps to reduce the risk of spreading an invasive species, such as by not transporting firewood into or around .

This morning, volunteers planted 25 Gray Dogwoods and 14 Ostrich Ferns along the Kenduskeag Stream Trail during our monthly trail day, as part of our Habitat Restoration Project.
