Strength for today...

Good Evening! Another nice day. (any day with no snow nor rain is nice btw) Tomorrow isn't too bad and Thursday...sunshine and almost 90 degrees!

Like last Tuesday, the day started out at FedEx. 2 car loads loaded up and headed back to MaineSpace to get ready for the orders going out.

Blessing Bags, pop tarts, first aid kits, first aid gauzes etc., clothing, snacks, cereal...the usual and then some. Shelters needed items like hair brushes, nail clippers, sneakers, shampoos, laundry detergent and whatever.

The order from FedEx had tons of supplies. 2 big boxes of pop-tarts. Beverages, coffee, sugar, snacks, cleaning supplies, hygiene supplies and lots of other supplies. Thank you FedEx.

Then Villagers dropped off rain ponchos, clothing, cereal and poptarts. Thank you both. Another set of Villagers dropped off funds to pay for a storage unit. Love all of our Villagers.

Can you imagine being discharged from the hospital with a wound and being homeless? You and I would stop at a drug store and get extra gauze pads and first aid tape. Sadly a homeless person doesn't have that option. πŸ’” Hence HFH tries to keep some basic supplies on hand. Never enough but we try.

Wish list is updated below. Thanks

If you do not hope...

Good Evening! What a gorgeous day. Rather chilly this morning but bearable and short lived. Looks as we progress throughout the week summer might be returning.

This past weekend brought in some nice donations and nice mail for us. First the mail. Checks from 2 Villagers one for $200.00 and the other was for $500.00. Our 2nd 500 for the month of May. Thanks to all our Villagers.

Then MaineSpace reached out that a Villager had dropped off sugar, creamer, coffee, Vienna Sausage, cereal, poptart, cheezits (individual packets) peanuts and a pair of sneakers. Then another Villager dropped off feminine products, bras and new socks.
BTW that was 108 cans of Vienna Sausages. The Villager did say there were no canned pastas at that time to purchase. Remember folks, we need 800 cans!!!

I then went CLYNK'ing. I got 8 bags. Thank you all.

For tomorrow, I have almost all orders from agencies and the shetlers. Only one more agency left to get the order in.

Wait for a miracle...

Good Evening. A bit of a gray day. Some sun, some mist, some gray. Next 2 days look chilly and cloudy.

Today started over at FedEx at 6:30 AM. We wanted to pick up an order(2 cars) so we could have the weekend "off." But you and I both know that if FedEx has more stuff I will be over there.

We sort items that we know we can get money or barter for that we can't use for the homeless. But we got tons of paper goods, more beverages, some clothing, snacks, and oatmeal. Stuff for the upcoming winter for the Warming Centers.

In the middle of the night..I got a text. A Villager has ordered the size 20 men's sneakers for our homeless gentleman. We have been looking for almost 2 weeks. So grateful for our Villager to do this.

I have updated the next inventory list for the Blessing Bags. I have listed it below.

Canned pasta flip top lid 800 cans needed.
Vienna Sausage 350 cans
Peanut butter/crackers 400
Pudding Cups 540
Slim Jims - mini 360

Strength today.

Good evening,

Today was a bit slower and less chaotic. The high was 83 degrees with manageable humidity, and tomorrow is expected to be cooler and mostly cloudy.

I was able to place an order at Sam's Club for our homeless. The manager at MaineSpace was kind enough to put everything away for me, because we started to get busy.

Then the Bangor Community Action Team (BCAT), reached out to us, which works with the police department to support our local homeless population by providing snacks, clothing, and "Blessing Bags."

While filling a clothing order today, I recognized the sizes and realized they were for a specific individual I have known for some time. Despite being housed in shelters and transitional housing multiple times, their mental health challenges continue to be a barrier. It is heartbreaking to see that what they truly need is consistent mental health care.

On a positive note, we were able to provide a pair of brand-new non-slip shoes to another individual who recently secured a job at a local restaurant., starting date is tomorrow. The case manager said he would be so relieved to be properly outfitted to start work.

We also received a wonderful surprise donation of new tops from Catherine Moller in Vermont. Thank you, Catherine, for your continued support.

We are still in need of - Men’s sneakers, size 20 (1 pair needed).

I picked up 5 bags of CLYNK today. That's my next project, to get all the numbers together for 2026 to see where we stand for fundraising for our Warming Centers for the upcoming winter.

Gratitude is powerful.

Good Evening! A beautiful day but a very busy day. Tomorrow, weatherwise looks equally nice. Perhaps it will rain on Thursday.

Today was the day! Tuesday which is our usual disbursement day for the field workers for the outside homeless. A shelter also. PLUS we had 2 car loads from FedEx. I am very grateful but some days I take a beating with so much going on. Thank goodness for our Tuesday Villagers!!

We sent out a ton of NEW food bags, although I almost cringe because I see so many go out and I start thinking we need to restock for the next Blessing Bag session. Food bags, beverages, toilet paper etc. Plus sanitary napkins. (not liners)..more requests for those as of late. 2 cases of socks went out to one Agency. More to follow in the next couple of weeks.

FedEx had a wide variety of donations. (including a leaking box of brown paint that spilled...we will leave it at that!lol) But many things we can use, plus I think there were some maternity jeans which we will reach out to Bangor Public Health to see if one of their homeless pregnant folks can use them. We also received some goods from a food pantry on Saturday, cookies and such.. plus a set of bread crates on wheels for use of canned goods (pasta and Vienna sausage.)

Today we received a check for $500, 20 and a paypal for 20 also. Thank you to all Villagers.

Another Villager donated cereal and snacks to us!! Everything helps us give HOPE to our homeless daily.

In the next day or two I will get an inventory of what is needed for Blessing Bags next assembly session. I do know we need 800 canned pastas. 900 mini Slim Jims and 540 individual pudding cups or 15 flats of 36.

Be hopeful for tomorrow.

Good Evening. A grayish type of day with a peek of sunshine here and there. Not warm at all. Rain tonight and tomorrow. But Tuesday looks like a return to "summer." Weather in Maine!

My apologies for not posting about our GREAT day yesterday filled with AWESOME VILLAGERs. Right after the Blessing Bag day, we had a High School Tennis then church etc. This AM we had grocery shopping and a visit to a garden center before tomorrow's rain.

Yesterday was just unbelievable. We had about 15.5 people there to assist. Why a half a person? One of our Villagers had major surgery on her arm/shoulder and was in one of those padded shoulder thingies. But she and her partner still came in and helped out!

We got over 900 Blessing Bags assembled plus several huge totes of food sorted out. Some are sorted into snacks, others put aside for our next Blessing Bag session.
A new Villager brought in 3 packages of Boxer Briefs, plus another package of boxer briefs arrived from a pair of Villagers. Plus another Villager brought in a $50 check. Already putting this towards food for the next Blessing Bag day.

Villagers, it does take a Village to give so much HOPE to our homeless. Money that you send in, donations you drop off, the shopping you help me with. Then it's the set up of tables (takes a good 45 minutes or more) the pudding cups that a Villager comes in and separates all of them before the day. And then on the day, the Villagers come in. Some are "tenured" some are sort of tenured and then we have the BRAND new Villagers.

Tenured Villagers take the newbies under their "wings" and show them how it is done. Tenured Villagers remind me that the newbies haven't had THE TOUR yet. Thank you all.

And yet yes....we are already starting to gather money & food for the next Blessing Bag day. Because we know the bags we made up yesterday will not be enough!

This is what we were looking at for next week's Blessing Bags unless our villagers came in and helped assembled today. Plus the Villagers that send in supplies and money to make it happen. It costs close to $4000.00 for 900 bags if one prices out the donations!
